Given the number of times that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has appeared in the media as of late, one could easily be forgiven for forgetting that her husband, Bill Clinton, has a voice too.
However, it would appear that the former president has found his voice once more, especially as the nation appears to be on the brink of war.
Either that, or Clinton is a tad irked that a Biden-appointed judge effectively overruled his own judge, at least in part, over the Trump administration’s deployment of military forces in Los Angeles.
Nonetheless, Clinton did speak out recently and quite publicly regarding the ongoing, highly precarious situation with Israel and Iran … and, curiously enough, his sentiments appeared to mirror the sentiments of the dovish and hawkish elements of the GOP.
From a hawkish standpoint, Clinton was rather adamant that Iran should not have nuclear capabilities … for rather obvious reasons.
“Do I think that we have to try to stop Iran from having a nuclear weapon? I do,” Clinton asserted.
Fair point. After all, it is definitely not an ideal scenario for nations to feature “Death to America!” rallies and nuclear capabilities simultaneously.
That said, Clinton also incorporated a broad swathe of dovish sentiment in his commentary, making it clear that he far preferred sound negotiation over imminent destruction.
“Mr. Netanyahu has long wanted to fight Iran because that way he can stay in office forever and ever. I mean, he’s been there most of the last 20 years … But, I think we should be trying to defuse it, and I hope President Trump will do that,” Clinton mused.
Most of the world likely hopes for a miracle negotiation undertaken by the Trump administration as well. Especially as such a negotiation will bring greater peace to civilians.
“But choosing undeclared wars in which the primary victims are civilians, who are not politically involved, one way or the other, who just want to live decent lives, is not a very good solution,” Clinton poignantly added.
Wow!
In this regard, Clinton astonishingly sounds quite similar to Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Indeed, Greene has been quite adamant in her own opposition to American involvement in the Middle East, much to the chagrin of Senator Lindsey Graham and other more hawkish Republicans.
As widely reported in various media outlets, Graham went as far as to state that Greene did not “understand” the seriousness of the Middle East situation.
Which makes Clinton and Greene’s seeming – if unwitting – agreement over foreign policy, at least in part, all the more surprising.
Though what is the most surprising in general is the former president speaking, period, especially when his wife is well known for dominating the media.
Or at least trying to.
One of Hillary Clinton’s more notorious public commentaries happened when she raged about Trump’s apparent “allegiance to algorithms” … which is ironic, considering Big Tech’s prior allegiance to Democrats.
Nonetheless, regardless of the motivation for Bill Clinton’s sudden desire to speak, the former president has indeed spoken boldly and directly regarding his very real fears of escalating conflict in the Middle East.
The situation clearly remains in flux, and exactly what Trump will do or will not do, especially over the coming weeks, remains unclear.
And given the ongoing lack of clarity from an international standpoint, it is even clearer that a greater sense of national unity is critically important from a domestic standpoint.
