Forthcoming President Donald Trump cannot eliminate governmental waste and inefficiency soon enough.
After all, not only is such waste and inefficiency a tremendous waste of dwindling taxpayer revenues, but it is also downright dangerous for the “democracy” that Democrats falsely claim they wish to protect.
Per a darkly humorous report from the New York Post, the federal government apparently burned through well over a quarter of a billion dollars on fighting so-called “misinformation” and “disinformation
Citing a detailed research report produced by the Committee on the Judiciary
and the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, the New York Post noted all the ways in which $267M (or more) of taxpayer revenues were effectively allocated to mass censorship, a la 1984.
Indeed, the House report, which may be viewed in its entirety here, includes a number of disturbing findings.
“This interim report details the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) funding of AI- powered censorship and propaganda tools, and its repeated efforts to hide its actions and avoid political and media scrutiny,” the report begins.
In other words, the government went full-blown 1984 during the pandemic … a level of power that it is clearly keen to get back as soon as possible.
“In the name of combatting alleged misinformation regarding COVID-19 and the 2020 election, NSF has been issuing multi-million-dollar grants to university and non-profit research teams. The purpose of these taxpayer-funded projects is to develop artificial intelligence (AI)- powered censorship and propaganda tools that can be used by governments and Big Tech to shape public opinion by restricting certain viewpoints or promoting others,” the report continues.
In other words, the government blew over a quarter of a billion dollars on violating the First Amendment. That’s nice.
In fact, the government was so egregiously anti-Constitutional in its actions that it even made typically liberal figures, like Big Tech titans, a bit edgy.
“The Biden White House directly coercing large social media companies, such as Facebook, to censor true information, memes, and satire, eventually leading Facebook to change its content moderation policies,” the report added.
Indeed.
Even Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted that the Biden-Harris administration had stepped way out of line.
In a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman – Representative Jim Jordan – Zuckerberg outlined the ways in which the government “pressured” him to manipulate content on the social media platform.
“I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it. I also think we made some choices that, with the benefit of hindsight and new information, we wouldn’t make today,” Zuckerberg announced.
Is it any wonder that Zuckerberg declined to provide massive funding for the Dems in 2020?
After all, much of the so-called “disinformation” and “misinformation” actually turned out to be true, or at least based in credible evidence … including the theory that the virus originally leaked from a Chinese laboratory.
Naturally, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy was aghast at the report’s findings.
“When it comes to government spending, the truth is often stranger than fiction,” Ramaswamy informed the Post.
Is it ever. Especially with the Dems in charge.
“We’re gearing up to fix the egregious waste of taxpayer dollars,” Ramaswamy announced forcefully.
And not a moment too soon.
Herb Lin, the Hank J. Holland Fellow in Cyber Policy and Security at Stanford’s Hoover Institution, noted that the government’s mass censorship is deeply disturbing, as well as potentially equivalent to a direct military threat.
In testimony delivered to the Innovative Technology, and Information Systems on April 30, 2021, Lin made his views very, very clear.
“The information warfare threat to the United States is different from past threats, and it has the potential to destroy reason and reality as a basis for societal discourse, replacing them with rage and fantasy. Perpetual civil war, political extremism, waged in the information sphere and egged on by our adversaries is every bit as much of an existential threat to American civilization and democracy as any military threat imaginable,” Lin intoned ominously.
Alas, with the Biden-Harris regime shamelessly poking the bear in a clearly contrived effort to bring about World War III, it is clear that Trump – and the real patriots – cannot come to power soon enough.
