Trump Battles Chaos: Cities Resist Federal Intervention

President Trump is once again standing up for law and order—something every American should support. As crime continues to rise in cities like Portland, Oregon, and Chicago, Illinois, the President is taking bold action to protect citizens and federal workers. Meanwhile, Democrat leaders in those cities seem more interested in playing politics than keeping people safe.

Let’s be clear: the Constitution gives the federal government the authority to protect federal buildings and officials. When local leaders refuse to do their job, the President has a duty to step in. That’s exactly what Trump is doing. He authorized the deployment of federal troops to protect facilities belonging to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and he’s working to ensure that law and order are upheld.

But Democrat leaders are fighting him at every turn. In Oregon, a federal judge named Karin Immergut blocked Trump from using the state’s National Guard. This judge, who should be focused on the Constitution and the safety of citizens, instead chose to tie the President’s hands. She ignored the fact that Portland has been overrun by crime for years. As Trump said, “There’s a huge problem in Portland. It’s called crime.” And he’s absolutely right.

Portland has seen riots, vandalism, and violence. Instead of fixing the problem, local leaders have let it grow worse. And now a judge wants to prevent the federal government from helping? That’s not just wrong—it’s dangerous.

Chicago is facing the same crisis. President Trump called out Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson. He said they don’t have things under control—and the facts back him up. Chicago has some of the highest crime rates in the country. People are afraid to walk in their own neighborhoods. Businesses are closing. Families are suffering. Yet local leaders seem more focused on blaming others than solving the problem.

Why would any leader want to “inflame the crime,” as President Trump put it? The answer is simple: they care more about politics than people. They want to make the President look bad, even if it means letting their own cities fall apart. That’s not leadership. That’s cowardice.

Thankfully, not every state is following their example. In Texas, Governor Greg Abbott, a strong Republican, sent 400 National Guard troops to protect federal officials. He understands that public safety is more important than political games. That’s real leadership. That’s what the Constitution expects from our elected officials.

In Illinois, a judge named April Perry didn’t block the federal government from using the National Guard. Instead, she asked for more information. That shows at least some willingness to work with the federal government to solve the problem. We’ll see how that plays out, but it’s a step in the right direction.

The truth is, our Founders believed in a limited government, but also in a strong rule of law. Local and state governments have real power, but when they fail to protect their citizens, the federal government has to act. That’s not tyranny—that’s the system working as it should.

President Trump is doing his job. He’s standing up for law-abiding Americans. He’s protecting federal property. And he’s calling out leaders who would rather see their cities burn than admit they need help.

The American people deserve better than lawless streets and frightened leaders. They deserve safety, order, and justice. And that’s what President Trump is fighting for every day.

It’s time for the courts to get back to the Constitution. It’s time for local leaders to stop playing politics. And it’s time for all Americans to support the rule of law. Because without it, we don’t have liberty—we have chaos.
