“We will do everything in our power to continue supporting Ukraine, including militarily.”
So declared German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in a stunning war policy reversal in Ukraine, specifically in terms of “no longer having any range restrictions on the weapons” supplied by NATO.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Merz noted that Germany, alongside the US, UK, and France, have opted to lift all previous restrictions on Ukraine with regards to the nation’s use of long-range weaponry provided by its allies.
In the past, Ukraine had been exclusively restricted to attacking military targets within occupied territory, as Western allies feared that allowing strikes on Russian territory may further inflame the conflict.
Unfortunately, Western allies clearly underestimated the degree to which Putin would continue his bloody war, even with Trump in power.
Which is precisely why Merz, amongst other allies, has now realized that diplomacy simply does not work with Russia, much as it does not with China.
China is merely sneakier, that’s all … such as attacking civilians via lab-grown viruses versus military drones.
Nonetheless, Russia remains the target of Western allies’ focus now.
“After the last three weeks, no one can seriously accuse us of not having exhausted all available diplomatic means’ … Short of ‘raising the white flag’, Ukraine’s supporters had ‘done everything’ they could,” Merz mused.
Have they ever … at least in terms of peaceful options.
“If even an offer to meet at the Vatican does not get [Putin’s] approval, then we must be prepared for this war to last longer than we all wish or can imagine,” Merz added.
An unfortunate reality … thereby requiring a much more robust NATO response.
As a result of the newly robust NATO response, Ukraine has permission to strike back at Russia itself.
Importantly, it’s not just Germany that is lifting restrictions … it is the United States as well.
“There are no longer any range restrictions on weapons delivered to Ukraine – neither by the British nor by the French nor by us nor by the Americans … Ukraine can now defend itself, for example, by attacking military positions in Russia… With very few exceptions, it didn’t do that until recently. It can now do that,” Merz added.
Take that, Putin!
As noted by Merz, such a dramatic shift was necessary in order to prevent Putin from his continued sadistic campaign of “ruthlessly bombing cities, kindergartens, hospitals and care homes.”
As for Trump? It is rather clear that he is quite pissed off, especially following Moscow’s jeering over his “emotional overload.”
“I’ve always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia!” Trump asserted.
French President Emmanuel Macron chimed in as well, though France is clearly not as formidable as the United States and Germany.
“We have seen once again in recent hours Donald Trump express his anger. A form of impatience. I simply hope now that this translates into action,” Macron boomed.
Well, Macron, has a massive policy reversal not translated into action?
“Putin obviously sees offers of talks as a sign of weakness,” Merz concurred.
Which is precisely why he, along with Trump and other NATO leaders, opted to hurl a serious curveball at Putin.
That’s certainly one way to get the attention of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has effectively operated with literally bloody impunity for more than three years.
The question is … will Putin make good on his nuclear “threats,” following a serious escalation from the West?
