Well, that escalated quite quickly.
As it turns out, former President Joe Biden’s White House Press Secretary – Karine Jean-Pierre – has just very publicly quit the Democrat Party.
In addition, she also blasted the White House as a “broken institution.”
And she did so in one of the more public manners possible – via an upcoming, tell-all book.
In Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines, Jean-Pierre makes it abundantly clear that she is thoroughly illusioned with the Democrat Party.
The publisher, Hachette Book Group, provides an intriguing description of Jean-Pierre’s forthcoming work – or, more accurately, a “hard-hitting yet hopeful critique.”
“In a country obsessed with blind loyalty to a two-party democratic system, Karine Jean-Pierre, former White House press secretary to the Biden-Harris administration, shares why Americans must step beyond party lines to embrace life as Independents,” Hachette Book Group began.
Fair point. Such extreme polarization is precisely what allowed atypical political actors to emerge in the first place.
“Jean-Pierre didn’t come to her decision to be an independent lightly … She takes us through the three weeks that led to Biden’s abandoning his bid for a second term and the betrayal by the Democratic Party that led to his decision,” the publisher added.
Outstanding point.
After all, Biden was knifed by none other than his 50-year “friend” – former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Who is the embodiment of quite a bit wrong with politics … and a huge source of the “fractured electorate” detailed by Jean-Pierre.
“Jean-Pierre defines what it means to be part of the growing percentage of our fractured electorate that is Independent, why it can be worthwhile to carve a political space more loyal to personal beliefs than a party affiliation, and what questions you need to ask yourself to determine where you fit politically,” the publisher concluded.
Well, a personal belief in loyalty and liberty is certainly a good place to start – and, unfortunately, neither of these virtues has exactly been on display from the government in years.
As reported by The Hill, Jean-Pierre herself appears to be at a crossroads, as she certainly cannot continue down the liberals’ path of lies anymore.
“How do we get out of this? How do we protect our democracy? How do we protect vulnerable communities among us? What do we do next?” Jean-Pierre wondered.
Well, critical reflection and thoughtful questions are one way to get there.
Especially if those actions bring about a more nuanced, flexible way of thinking.
“I think we need to stop thinking in boxes and think outside of our boxes and not be so partisan,” Jean-Pierre continued.
Excellent point … and if only she had expressed these sentiments sooner.
“The way that I see moving forward in this space that we’re in right now is if you are willing to stand side by side with me, regardless of how you identify politically – and as long as you respect the community that I belong to and vulnerable communities that I respect – I will be there with you. I will move forward with you,” Jean-Pierre continued.
Well, that was certainly much more refreshing than all the drivel Jean-Pierre spewed from the White House over the last several years.
And her announcement about departing from the Democrat Party has certainly been met with a rather aggressive public response.
For instance, CNN conservative commentator Scott Jennings sarcastically “congratulated” the Democrats in the wake of Jean-Pierre’s departure.
“I’d like to congratulate Democrats for ridding yourselves of this untalented mediocrity … The White House press secretary’s a sacred position, and she stood up there for years and lied through her teeth to the American people,” Jennings boomed.
Fair point … though Pelosi and the ilk that Jean-Pierre used to represent are clearly worse.
As they have not left the Democrat party … nor will they ever, in all likelihood.
Indeed, for people like Pelosi, power – rather than people – is what ultimately matters.
Quite clearly.
Which Jean-Pierre has finally seemed to recognize.
“I’d never seen a party do that in the way that they did, and it was hurtful and sad to see that happening, a firing squad around a person who I believe was a true patriot,” Jean-Pierre asserted in February.
Alas, that’s just the way soulless politicians roll …
