“[That decision] should rest with me.”
So declared Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin over the weekend, abruptly terminating a bizarre plea deal that the Biden-Harris administration struck with 9/11 terrorists.
That’s right: 9/11 terrorists.
CNN ran a rather bold headline, declaring, “Defense secretary abruptly revokes plea deal with alleged 9/11 mastermind KSM, co-conspirators.”
In other words, Austin subverted the grotesque will of the Biden-Harris administration, which seems to become increasingly pro-terrorist with each passing month.
For starters, Harris openly blew off Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a rather ironic move considering that Israel remains the only democracy in the Middle East, as well as the United States’ longest-term ally.
On top of that, both Biden and Harris have basically kowtowed to wannabe student terrorists across college campuses for months, creating an environment in which militant antisemitism can fester.
Cutting a deal with 9/11 terrorists, however, showed the degree to which the Biden-Harris administration is willing to blow off Americans.
Indeed, the Biden administration had recently enraged millions across the United States through cutting a plea deal with 9/11 terrorists.
As part of this plea deal, the 9/11 terrorists not only evaded the death penalty, but they also evaded a public trial of any kind, thereby robbing their victims of having their day in court.
Brett Eagleson, the president of 9/11 Justice, an organization that represents 9/11 survivors and family members of victims, noted that such a deal sets a horrible precedent of “closed-door agreements,” the exact type that are more befitting of dictatorships than the democracies that Democrats claim to be so obsessed with.
“While we acknowledge the decision to avoid the death penalty, our primary concern remains access to these individuals for information … These plea deals should not perpetuate a system of closed-door agreements, where crucial information is hidden without giving the families of the victims the chance to learn the full truth,” Eagleson remarked.
Seriously.
It goes without saying that such a plea deal guarantees the 9/11 terrorists years and years of meals, lodging, and family visits … all the activities that their victims can no longer enjoy.
And what’s the most disturbing part of this entire deal is that these terrorists aren’t just any run of the mill terrorists, who are bad enough: One of the terrorists who benefitted from a “plea deal” was none other than Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, well known for masterminding the brutal terrorist attack that killed nearly 3,000 Americans.
Not to mention an attack that fundamentally redefined geopolitical security at the start of the twenty-first century.
One would assume that terrorists of such caliber are not entitled to “plea deals” … Heck, even Obama went after bin Laden with the Navy Seals.
Then again, Obama is now operating behind the scenes via his “third term,” and that gives him a lot more latitude
Austin’s sudden decision should mollify Americans to a degree, though one can only imagine what he had to pull off behind the scenes in order to release that memo over the weekend.
Especially as Republicans were all over the Biden administration for its dreadfully bad decision.
One such outspoken Republican includes Senator Lindsey Graham, who no doubt welcomes Austin’s subversion of the Biden-Harris team’s pro-terrorist stance.
“The world is on fire, terrorism is rampant, and we give a plea deal to the mastermind of 9/11? That just encourages more attacks,” Graham exclaimed in disbelief, adding that the agreement “sends a horribly bad signal at a very dangerous time.”
Indeed, it does.
Which is precisely why Austin wisely reversed it.
