Looks like Dem Mayor Eric Adams is learning the very hard way that leftists eagerly eat their own.
Indeed, the leftists rapidly turned on Adams when he raised rather valid viewpoints regarding mass illegal migration, chiefly in the form of a rather targeted investigation.
However, a major upside of Adams seeing the leftists for who they are includes his recognition of the importance of extremely basic public safety measures.
Including civilian vigilance, which helps ensure civilian security.
According to the United Nations Development Program (UNCP), citizen security may be defined as “a process of establishing, strengthening and protecting democratic civic order, eliminating threats of violence and allowing for safe and peaceful coexistence.”
And that’s the precise type of security that has been epically disrupted across the Big Apple, especially in the wake of the illegal migrant invasion coupled with longstanding, drug-abusing criminals.
As reported by the Daily Wire, 26-year-old former U.S. Marine Daniel Penny, who’s been charged in the death of Jordan Neely, has been largely vilified by the media for daring to protect other passengers on a New York City subway.
Indeed, Penny placed Neely in a chokehold, as Neely had been threatening other passengers.
Which saved the other passengers, yet simultaneously harmed him, as the rather zealous, supremely racist DA – Alvin Bragg – decided to go after Penny for daring to protect the public.
A move that Adams clearly opposes, as revealed in his surprising public commentary.
“We’re now on the subway where we’re hearing someone talking about hurting people, killing people. You have someone [Penny] on that subway who was responding, doing what we should have done as a city,” Adams declared.
Exactly. Too bad New York City has also been at the epicenter of “defund police” madness.
“Those passengers were afraid,” Adams added.
Were they ever. Who wouldn’t be, when trapped with someone quite threatening in an underground subway system?
Adams also took issue with the degree to which the mainstream media takes ridiculous liberties with photos, calling out media masterminds for manipulating the public with children’s pictures.
“Look at the photo that they used to show the victim. It seemed like it was a young innocent child who was brutally murdered, and it gave that impression when you look at the photo that was being used. It wanted to set up in the minds of people that we were dealing with a young innocent child that was, you know, just a Michael Jackson [impersonator],” Adams scoffed
Without a doubt! It’s nice to hear a Democrat finally call out that practice, however.
And what’s really funny is when that same Democrat calls out the even more extreme Democrats that preceded him.
“Then you look at the complete failure of our mental health system, a complete failure from the days of closing psychiatric wards and having those who needed help just turned over into the street without giving any safety net to accept them,” Adams asserted.
A failure that tends to escalate when the previous “co-mayors” of the city – Bill de Blasio and his money-grubbing wife – decided it would be a great idea to filch the taxpayers by close to $2B.
Heck, de Blasio’s wife alone wasted more than $900M on alleged mental health services.
The New York Post blasted Chirlane McCray, the wife of Bill de Blasio, as a “a world-class boondoggler in her own right.”
Labeling de Blasio and McCray as so-called “co-mayors,” which is otherwise known as “nonsense on stilts” the New York Post highlighted McCray’s impressive ability to take over huge sums of taxpayer money.
“Once upon a time, first spouses were content to pretend to be in charge of prettifying highways and things. It was honorable ‘work,’ it didn’t cost very much and it filled up the spouse’s free time. But … the general feeling — at least in the de Blasio administration — is that if there’s not a lot of dough attached to the spousal sinecure, it doesn’t really matter enough,” the New York Post noted.
In other words, the “co-mayors” before Adams were major thieves, who clearly robbed all funds intended for mental health for themselves.
Leading to the devastating situation involving Penny and Neely.
“So, ipso presto, co-Mayor Bill coughed up enough cash to break a pack mule’s back and sent it off to co-Mayor Chirlane — who then went forth to cure Gotham’s mental-illness problems,” the New York Post added.
Right.
More like fill her closet with another round of designer bags and shoes.
Alas, “the City Council was startled to discover that McCray and Team Thrive are closing in on having spent an eye-popping $900 million since the program’s inception – and nobody seems to have a clue on what.”
Well, it is fairly clear that the $900M was not spent on mental health problems.
Surprise, surprise.
Little wonder that Adams appears to be steadily losing it with leftists, include those who have preceded him.
