When they are not raging about President Donald Trump, it seems that Democrats are raging against each other.
Needless to say, the internecine rage should be eliminated from common political practices if decisively won elections are to be possible in the future.
Yet another internecine battle emerged once again, and it was apparently so ridiculous that even MSNBC criticized the combative Democrats.
As reported by the New York Post, Senator Cory Booker is apparently enraged that some of his Democrat colleagues intend to support Trump on new police legislation.
“That is complicity with an authoritarian leader who is trashing our country,” Booker roared during his “grandstanding behavior” on the Senate floor.
Grandstanding is right. After all, is Booker a theater actor? Or a serious politician?
“It is time for Democrats to have a backbone. It’s time for us to fight. It’s time for us to draw a line, and when it comes to the safety of my state being denied these grants, that’s why I’m standing here,” Booker boomed.
“To have a backbone.” That’s rich, coming from a grandstanding actor masquerading as a senator.
In fact, the grandstanding is precisely why even MSNBC, a perennially hysterical media outlet, criticized the New Jersey senator.
Panelists on MSNBC show “Morning Joe” were rather unimpressed by Booker’s performance, to put it mildly.
MSNBC contributor Mike Barnicle was rather irritated by the blatant grandstanding, honing in on the fact that Booker was unwisely magnifying deepening division within the Democrat party.
“Well, it’s great theater that we just saw. Cory Booker, a good guy, standing up and yelling on the floor of the United States Senate,” Barnicle growled.
Yup. Yelling is the new “debating” these days. All emotion, no substance.
“What I don’t understand is he’s yelling at two other Democrats. The Democrats have enough problems in this country defining themselves to people, making sure people know they are alive, they are interested in your life, they are interested in you, solving problems,” Barnicle added angrily.
Well, it is a bit crazy for Booker to yell at other Democrats, indeed. About as crazy as abruptly replacing former President Joe Biden with former Vice President Kamala Harris during the 11th hour of presidential campaigning.
Then again, what is to be expected from a senator who also nabbed headlines for his 25-hour rant against Trump and tech titan Elon Musk alike?
Looks like Booker has opted against following the advice of former President Barack Obama, that’s for sure.
As Obama explicitly warned the Democrats to “toughen up.” However, Obama likely did not mean for the Democrats to toughen up against each other.
Yet that is precisely what Booker just did.
