DeSantis Brings Real Discipline Back To The Classroom

As usual, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is on a roll.

The staunch conservative made multiple headlines in the past for his support of law enforcement officers, even offering a one-time $5,000 bonus to police officers willing to relocate to the Sunshine State.

Quite the contrast with “Defund Police” Democrats.

Now, the governor is continuing to put families first with his support of educators, namely educators who are actually interested in teaching, rather than indoctrinating, their students.

As detailed by the Daily Mail, the governor has just passed a series of laws designed to disempower militant teachers’ unions (i.e., the entities that wanted indefinite lockdowns) as well as empower real teachers to take back control in the classroom.

“We’re leading the way when it comes to teacher empowerment,” DeSantis boomed, following his proclamations, as usual, with action.

First, he disempowered teachers’ unions by barring them from taking automatic deductions from teachers’ paychecks.

The same deductions that make union bosses rich and destructive, as evidenced during their recalcitrant behavior amid the pandemic.

“That is going to lead to more take home pay for teachers because they’re not going to have as many deductions in their paycheck,” DeSantis asserted.

In addition to disempowering feckless unions, DeSantis also signed a law that would bring real discipline back to the classroom, especially for teachers terrified of offending students for obvious reasons.

This law includes the right for teachers to demand students have cellular phones out of sight at all times, especially as social media and schools rarely mix well.

“We don’t want the kids on the phone the whole time while the teachers are trying to teach … There’s no way you’re learning what you need to be learning if you’re on social media,” DeSantis declared.

Seriously. Especially when social media thrives off leftist indoctrination to the same degree that teachers’ unions do.

“[Teachers] have a right to ensure discipline in the classroom and that’s not only for their safety, but also for the safety and learning experience of other students … We have one person that’s constantly disrupting, it’s hard for people to be able to do, but we just want to make sure teachers have the protections to be able to do that basic thing,” DeSantis added pointedly.

Translation: BLM and Antifa fanatics are not welcome in Florida classrooms.

Not to mention any other deliberate disruptor that is subsequently coddled by the Democrat Party.

DeSantis also noted that his law was motivated by the fact that educators should be able to use discipline freely, without fearing trial by social media.

“Teachers think if they discipline a student that people are going to go after them for just keeping order … So, we’re going to make sure that they have an ability to do that,” the Florida governor continued.

In addition to laws that empower teachers to bring discipline back to the classroom, DeSantis also declared hefty state support, undoubtedly designed to attract quality educators.

Specifically, DeSantis declared that he would provide more than $1B in teacher pay, which is a $252M increase over the present record.

Little wonder that Florida has been recently ranked #1 by US News & World Report, given the generally low tuition and debt, alongside high graduation rates from colleges and universities.

One of DeSantis’s myriad achievements … And he’s just getting started.
