DOJ Probes BLM: Millions Unaccounted For?

The Department of Justice, under the leadership of President Donald Trump, is finally taking a hard look at one of the most controversial groups of the past few years: Black Lives Matter. The DOJ is now investigating whether senior leaders of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation misused money that was raised after the death of George Floyd in 2020. This is not just about politics—it’s about the truth, accountability, and whether the law was followed.

According to reports, BLM raised over $90 million during the summer of 2020. That is a massive amount of money, and many Americans trusted that it would be used to help communities in need. But now, federal prosecutors want to know if those funds were actually used for that purpose—or if they were used to enrich the leaders of the organization instead.

The DOJ has already issued subpoenas and even carried out at least one search warrant. The investigation is being led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles. That’s not surprising, since BLM’s leaders reportedly bought a $6 million mansion in the Los Angeles area using funds from donations. This raised serious questions about where the rest of the money went.

Critics—on both sides of the political aisle—have pointed out that BLM has not been very open about how it spends its money. Even some who once supported the movement are now asking for answers. After all, when people donate millions of dollars, they expect those donations to be used honestly and for the cause they were promised.

Interestingly, even the Associated Press, which is known for leaning left and being anti-Trump, had to admit that the investigation into BLM appears to have started under Joe Biden’s Justice Department. That shows this isn’t just about politics. There is real concern here over how BLM handled millions of dollars.

BLM leaders have responded by saying they are not under a federal criminal investigation and that they remain committed to transparency. But their words don’t match the actions that have come to light. For example, in 2022, they admitted to using donations to buy the LA property with six bedrooms and six bathrooms.

Now, their latest financial filings show that the group still has $28 million in assets. That’s a lot of money for a group that says it exists to help struggling communities. Meanwhile, many of the neighborhoods they claimed to support have seen no improvement. In fact, some have gotten worse.

This investigation matters because it speaks to the heart of fairness and justice under the law. If a conservative group had raised $90 million and used it to buy mansions, the media and the left would be screaming for arrests. But when it’s a left-leaning group like BLM, the press suddenly gets quiet—or worse, they try to make the investigation look like a political attack.

But the law should never play favorites. That’s what our Constitution is all about: equal justice for all. No matter how popular or powerful a group might be, they must follow the law. The American people deserve to know where their money went. And if crimes were committed, those responsible must be held accountable.

President Trump’s Justice Department is doing the right thing by following the facts and pursuing justice. This isn’t about targeting anyone unfairly. It’s about making sure that no group—left or right—is above the law.

In the end, this investigation is a test of our system. Will we stand up for truth and transparency? Will we demand honesty from those who claim to speak for justice? Or will we allow powerful movements to hide behind politics and avoid accountability?

The answer should be clear. The rule of law matters. And the truth must come out.
