Former FBI Director Under Fire For Calling For Trump’s Assassination

Half the time, one really does wonder if former FBI director James Comey has an irrational desire to remain in the media at almost all times.

According to a stunning report from the Daily Mail, Comey raised multiple eyebrows with his suspect social media post … given its apparently violent connotations.

In fact, the connotations directly alluded to calls for an assassination of Trump … which is a tad troubling, to put it mildly.

“Comey uploaded a cryptic picture on his Instagram account on Thursday afternoon, which featured an assortment of shells arranged to spell out: ‘86 47’ … That specific combination of numbers has been linked to the assassination of Trump and a ‘quiet resistance,’” the Daily Mail noted.

Yikes.

The Daily Mail also provided additional insight into the numbers, further underscoring their deeply suspect message.

“The number 86 is considered slang for ‘to kill or murder’ within some circles, in an apparent reference to a standard sized grave being eight feet long and six feet deep.

Trump is the 47th president, so some anti-Trump groups use the two numbers together to indicate that Trump should be assassinated,” the Daily Mail added.

Well then. Talk about a rather “on the nose” call … and a rather troubling one to boot.

After all, what kind of FBI director – past or current – calls for the assassination, however obliquely, of any president – past or current?

Naturally, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem was furious, making it rather clear that an investigation would commence as necessary.

“Disgraced former FBI Director James Comey just called for the assassination of President Trump. DHS and Secret Service is investigating this threat and will respond appropriately,” Noem declared.

FBI Chief Kash Patel was equally incensed over the “recent social media post” provided by Comey.

“We are aware of the recent social media post by former FBI Director James Comey, directed at President Trump. We are in communication with the Secret Service and Director Curran. Primary jurisdiction is with SS on these matters and we, the FBI, will provide all necessary support,” Patel detailed.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff and Cabinet Secretary Taylor Budowich was even blunter.

“While President Trump is currently on an international trip to the Middle East, the former FBI Director puts out what can clearly be interpreted as ‘a hit’ on the sitting President of the United States – a message etched in the sand,” Budowich intoned.

And hopefully not a message etched in the figurative stars, less any crazies get more ideas.

Of course, Comey played dumb.

“I posted a picture of some shells I saw today on a beach walk, which I assumed were a political message … I didn’t realize some folks associate those numbers with violence. It never occurred to me, but I oppose violence of any kind so I took the post down,” Comey detailed.

Right. Shells that just happened to spell out “86” and “47.”

But hey, just an innocuous, innocent message, right?
