Haley Weighs In On Trump Foreign Policy Amid “Nuclear Umbrella” Talks

Shortly after Ukraine received permission to use long range weapons against Russia – deep in Russian territory – Europe has been on edge about the possibility of all-out war.

Especially as Putin apparently informed Trump that Russia will “respond” to the attacks from Ukraine.

As a result of this widespread fear, several media outlets have already been whipping up literally “nuclear” fears, which will undoubtedly place additional pressure on the leader of the world’s ostensibly freest nation.

A recently published opinion piece by The Hill – “Instead of nuclear weapons, give Poland a nuclear umbrella” – argues in favor of literally nuclear protection for the European continent.

“Since Poland’s new president and prime minister are strong on defense, questions about the country’s nuclear future may come more to the fore. In response, Poland could seek its own nuclear weapons, become a host for NATO weapons or turn to France and the United Kingdom for protection,” The Hill detailed.

In other words, The Hill already assumes that President Donald Trump is not a reliable ally for Poland – why else mention the UK and France without the US?

However, The Hil does give credit to Trump – or at least the United States – for the contributions that it has made to date with the so-called “nuclear umbrella” over Europe.

“U.S. nuclear bombs in Europe are a visible expression of the umbrella. They are stored in five NATO states: Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Turkey. Under the alliance’s “nuclear sharing” program, the bombs would be delivered by allied aircraft (stealthy F-35s, except F-16s for Turkey). Only the U.S. could authorize nuclear release,” The Hill continued.

As The Hill notes, “the strength of the nuclear umbrella over NATO allies” may well deter Russia from making an especially stupid move.

Which leads one to wonder how former Secretary of State Nikki Haley would feel about ongoing American involvement in a war on the European continent, especially given her intense focus on foreign policy in general.

While most Americans are well aware of the fact that Haley and Trump are hardly best buddies, it would appear that the relationship between the two has taken an even more sour turn than usual.

And that sudden turn is even less surprising when considering that Haley is quite clearly very opposed to Trump’s admittedly confusing approach to Vladimir Putin.

As Trump has long proclaimed that he would end the war in Ukraine on “Day One,” it is natural to wonder precisely when this “Day One” may really occur.

And, according to Haley, Trump is apparently more effective at “slapping” allies than he is at ending the war.

In fact, as reported by The Hill, Haley goes as far as to say that Trump is effectively throwing Iran a bone, chiefly by having Russia cooperate in the supposed negotiations with the terrorism-sponsoring nation.

“Russia has been receiving drones and ballistic missiles from Iran to use in its kidnapping of Ukraine … Iran and Russia are partners,” Haley coolly remarked.

Fair point.

“It is ludicrous to think we would allow Putin to be chief negotiator between the US and Iran on the Iran deal in exchange for the US helping Russia with Ukraine … That is a backhanded slap to all of our allies,” Haley angrily remarked.

Admittedly, another very fair point.

Especially when considering that Iran is one of the leading financiers of Hamas’s ongoing terrorism in Israel.

As Trump has vowed to punish American universities that permit blatant antisemitism, it is sensible to take similar precautions with Iran – a massive sponsor of terrorism.

What are Haley’s views regarding the so-called “nuclear umbrella” for Europe?

While she has yet to weigh in, it is safe to say that Haley will most likely be in the favor of foreign policies designed to make America great again on the truly global stage.

That said, whether or not those policies will achieve their aims remains in question.
