Leftist Declares US Sanctuary City To Be Part Of Mexico’s “Homeland”

When President Donald Trump declared that Mexico would be paying for the border wall, he probably did not envision a potential solution that the Mexican government would freely offer.

Or, a Mexican politician, at least.

Indeed, it looks like the ongoing activity in Los Angeles has captured more than one individual’s interest … including individuals serving in rather high-profile political positions in Mexico.

In fact, such individuals appear more than ready and willing to take over Los Angeles, and they’re even willing to pay for the border wall to do so.

According to a report from Fox News, prominent politician Gerardo Fernández Noroña is apparently quite keen to take over Los Angeles, amongst other American territories.

Noroña, who serves as the Morena Party Senate president, apparently has an axe to grind with the United States following his displeasure of a major treaty signed more than 200 years ago.

Specifically, Noroña is not a fan of the 1830 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.

Though this treaty ended the Mexican-American War, it resulted in Mexico relinquishing one-third of its territory to the United States.

So, Noroña is fine paying for the border wall … if the nation returns territory Mexico ceded to the United States as part of the treaty in 1830.

“We’ll do it according to the map of Mexico from 1830,” Noroña declared, gesturing at a map drawn per the borders of that period.

“This is what the United States was in 1830, and this was part of Mexico. I was at Trump Tower when President-elect Donald Trump said … I said, ‘Yes, we’ll build the wall. Yes we’ll pay for it, but we’ll do it according to the map of Mexico from 1830,’” Noroña proclaimed.

And, in doing so, Noroña would be taking approximately 48 percent of the electorate with him.

“We settled there before the nation now known as the United States,” Noroña continued, “with this geography, how can they talk about liberating Los Angeles – and California – the U.S. government; liberate from whom?”

Well, a takeover of Los Angeles would certainly liberate the city from the presence of federalized law enforcement.

Not to mention shatter the chances of Governor Gavin Newsom gunning for the White House, which has clearly long been one of his ambitions.

“[For] Mexican men and women, [that has] always been their homeland,” Noroña insisted.

So much so that English is usually an afterthought in many locales across Los Angeles.

Indeed, Fox News also noted that Noroña “claimed Angelenos do not need to know how to speak English because of the historic prevalence of Spanish there.”

And Noroña is certainly not in favor of the presence of federalized law enforcement, which is another reason underlying the timing of his takeover suggestion.

“This is part of the U.S., yes, and the U.S. government has the right to implement whatever immigration measures it deems appropriate. But they have no right to violate the dignity of migrants … no right to subject them to suffering, persecution and harassment,” Noroña mused.

While it is highly unlikely the Trump administration would consider ceding Los Angeles and other American territories to Mexico, it is quite interesting that the claims regarding a “51st state” appear to have resonated with other nations.

Other nations that appear similarly interested in expanding their own territories.

Therefore, while all eyes are on the Middle East for now, the ongoing activity south of the border is certainly activity that warrants continued observation.
