Well, that was a rather unexpected plot twist.
Megan McCain has rarely been shy in her criticism of President Donald Trump, which has been persistent for a significant period of time.
And that disapproval has continued well into recent history, as evidenced by her opposition to Trump’s victory in 2024.
Indeed, this past fall, McCain made it very clear that she would vote for neither Trump nor former candidate Kamala Harris, despite being a “proud” member of the Republican Party.
“I greatly respect the wide variety of political opinions of all of my family members and love them all very much. I, however, remain a proud member of the Republican Party and hope for brighter days ahead. (Not voting for Harris or Trump, hope that clears things up),” McCain posted on X.
The level of clear public opposition to Trump would lead one to think that she would be largely in favor of some of his harshest critics.
However, it would appear that McCain is actually more disgusted by pitiable partisanship, which is frankly one of the most destructive forces continuing to roil across the nation today.
And that is precisely why McCain is calling for the White House to yank the credentials of none other than Kaitlin Collins, a “star” on CNN who has apparently made enormous advancements in her career via criticizing Trump.
Apparently, Collins provoked McCain’s ire when she relentlessly questioned White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt for Trump’s views on Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence.
To the extent that McCain believes that her credits should be summarily yanked.
“Kaitlan Collins is an absolute imbecile and a pure partisan hack. Have some respect for the two women standing in front of you who are exposing lies, deep corruption and keeping the country safe. The White House should pull her credentials,” McCain huffed on X.
Well then. Talk about an unwitting defense of Trump!
As detailed by The Hill, “Collins has made a name for herself in the media with direct questioning of top Republican lawmakers on her nightly prime-time show and repeated follow-ups directed at Trump during gaggles with members of the press.”
In other words, Collins is making an arsenal of cash off of attacking Trump, and not much else, judging from that de facto “job description.”
In more than one way, the riches that Collins is making are rather ironic.
After all, if Trump were not president, it is unclear what, if anything, Collins would be able to do, given that she seems to have made a career out of grandstanding to leftist lemmings.
Little wonder that a very irritated McCain has called for the White House to yank the credentials of Collins, as she clearly recognizes the “root cause” of much of the mayhem enveloping the country – a dearth of critical thinking combined with an excess of volatile emotion.
It will be interesting to see whether or not Trump heeds McCain’s calls to yank Collins’s credentials – especially as the president himself has frequently expressed substantial irritation with the CNN reporter.
Back in March, the New York Post reported that Trump was quick to cut Collins off when she began yapping away.
“Excuse me, I didn’t pick you,” Trump brusquely interrupted before signaling for another journalist to issue his query instead.
That said, if Trump opts to follow through with McCain’s recommendation, he won’t have to worry about Collins cutting in again.
He will also be able to take pleasure in the fact that he has scored yet another “win” against CNN.
Though perhaps the biggest – and most troubling – “win” occurred when CNN admitted that it did engage in a de facto cover-up of the real cognitive state of Joe Biden.
A cover-up deemed “worse than Watergate.”
