At last, one of the most openly racist mayors in the nation has received a long overdue comeuppance, as reported by multiple media outlets.
“Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot lost her bid for re-election Tuesday, ending her historic run as the city’s first Black woman and first openly gay person to serve in the position.
Lightfoot, a Democrat, failed to get enough votes in the nine-person race to move on to an April 4 runoff election,” NBC News reported.
Ah, good old identity politics. May get one in the door, but certainly won’t help one get the job done.
Especially when one insists upon being a recalcitrant racist after being overwhelmingly voted in by clueless white liberals.
Lightfoot has the dubious distinction of being one of the few “leaders” to openly refuse to interface with white journalists, for no other reason than she’s angry about the fact that more black journalists aren’t available.
“’It’s a shame that in 2021, the City Hall press corps is overwhelmingly White in a city where more than half of the city identifies as Black, Latino, AAPI or Native American,” Lightfoot sneered.
Well, that’s interesting, considering more than half the kids in Chicago’s public schools apparently can’t read, write, or do basic math, which would probably explain why the City Hal press corps is “overwhelmingly white.”
Predictably, Lightfoot has blamed so-called “racism” for her being shown the door, though she should have been thrown out long ago.
A recent editorial by Meghan McCain, who has written a series of editorials that skewer the woke to the core, knocks Lightfoot out of the park with her rather brutal, and wholly accurate, assessment of the situation.
“While identity politics may help get you in the door, it won’t necessarily help you get the job done,” McCain declared in the opening lines.
Amen! And, like a classic conservative, McCain backs her assertions with facts … rather than racist hysteria that poorly disguises the utter incompetency exhibited by Lightfoot.
“Was the racist, sexist deck-stacked against you in 2019 when you won 73% of the vote and carried all 50 wards of the city? Sorry, Lori. The identity politics of several years ago don’t carry the same weight in a country still clawing itself out of the COVID pandemic pit, eyeing a coming recession, grappling with crime and drug epidemics, and feeling an increasingly aggressive Chinese Communist threat breathing down its neck. Chicagoans wanted results, and you couldn’t deliver,” McCain continued.
Yep. And a huge percentage undoubtedly originated from the very “white” people that Lightfoot openly derided, not to mention ban from speaking to her in a formal, journalistic capacity.
Not to mention all people who have been besieged by violence when Lightfoot defunded the police, while she herself retained (taxpayer-funded) private security.
Which McCain also details, with facts.
“In 2021, Chicago set a 25-year homicide record with more than 800 killings. Even though the murder rate dipped from 2021 to 2022, it remained nearly 40% higher than it was in 2019 … This year, from January 1st to mid-February, overall crime in the city was up 58% over the same period in 2022. That includes criminal sexual assaults up 23%, thefts up 33%, and robberies up 23%. And for some reason, carjackings are now as much a Chicago specialty as deep-dish pizza,” McCain continued.
Awesome analogy, McCain. Way to lay out all the ways in which extreme violence has amplified since the first “openly gay black woman” took over the crime-ridden cesspit otherwise known as Chicago.
Way to also point out the ways in which Lightfoot openly exploited impressionable children to do her re-election bidding.
“Prior to the election, polls showed a whopping 61% of voters said that they disapproved of the job she was doing and 71% said the city was on ‘the wrong track’ … And in what must be one the most desperate moves in modern American politics, the Lightfoot campaign tried to recruit school kids to volunteer for her campaign in exchange for class credits. They got caught – and lamely walked it back.”
So, that’s why children can’t read or write. Between trans- and CRT-obsessed teachers and the mayor openly violating the alleged separation of politics and public school, it is little wonder that even Chicagoans (for the most part) woke up to her.
“Chicago already has one Jussie Smollett. They don’t need another,” McCain added pointedly.
Yet another utterly awesome, and precisely on point, analogy.
