Musk certainly doesn’t mess around when it comes to rendering willful censors unemployable, and that is precisely what he just did with now former Twitter deputy general counsel Jim Baker.
“In light of concerns about Baker’s possible role in suppression of information important to the public dialogue, he was exited from Twitter today,” Musk said crisply.
As it turns out, Musk sacked Baker in large part due to his anti-liberty moves, effectively a snake lawyer masquerading as house counsel.
Reporter Matt Taibbi revealed that Baker was fired due to attempting to out-maneuver Musk, which wasn’t the wisest decision in the world.
“On Tuesday, Twitter Deputy General Counsel (and former FBI General Counsel) Jim Baker was fired. Among the reasons? Vetting the first batch of ‘Twitter Files’ – without knowledge of new management,” Taibbi reported.
As “new management” would include Musk, it is unclear exactly what Baker was attempting to achieve in the long run with his rather unwise action.
Then again, Baker is no stranger to controversy.
“Baker is a controversial figure. He has been something of a Zelig of FBI controversies dating back to 2016, from the Steele Dossier to the Alfa-Server mess. He resigned in 2018 after an investigation into leaks to the press,” Taibbi continued.
So, in other words, Baker was more than happy to spread actual disinformation regarding Trump-Russia collusion … yet he sudden became obsessed with the alleged “facts” when it came to Musk exposing a treasure trove of evidence that he didn’t like very much.
Namely evidence revealing that individuals like Baker did what Americans have long suspected they did … aid and abet the Democrats and their insatiable thirst for power.
Legal scholar Jonathan Turley also weighed in on the controversy, noting Baker’s ironic connection to Russia, which aided and abetted the Clinton cadre.
“Baker has been featured repeatedly in the Russian investigations launched by the Justice Department, including the hoax involving the Russian Alfa Bank. When Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann wanted to plant the bizarre false claim of a secret communications channel between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin, Baker was his go-to, speed-dial contact,” Turley remarked.
Yeah. So, the same executive wants to attempt to block publication of actual truths, all while going way out of his way to promote insanely divisive disinformation.
No wonder advertisers are slinking back to Twitter, tail between their legs, as the brazen left bias becomes clearer and clearer.
Too bad their initial departure from Twitter, purely to virtue signal to people who largely leech off the government anyway, cost Musk serious revenue in the meantime.
“Twitter has had a massive drop in revenue, due to activist groups pressuring advertisers, even though nothing has changed with content moderation and we did everything we could to appease the activists. Extremely messed up! They’re trying to destroy free speech in America,” Musk reported at the time.
Once the advertisers returned just a few weeks after their defiant departure, Musk didn’t even bother to point out the truth to them, which was clearly obvious to all.
Instead, he graciously thanked them.
“Just a note to thank advertisers for returning to Twitter,” Musk drawled.
And another victory in the bank against the far left …
