Peter Doocy Puts Dithering Press Secretary In Her Place

Gotta love Fox News’s Peter Doocy, perhaps the only reporter who will ask real questions, despite the obvious resistance he receives from the White House.

Naturally, it’s been a delight watching him school woke White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre left and right.

And boy, did she give him some clear ammunition when she tried to claim that illegal immigration was down 90 percent.

That’s right, 90 percent … despite a border city literally just declaring a state of emergency.

“We actually deal with the immigration system in a humane way, in a way that actually deals with what we’re seeing at the border. And that’s why you’ve seen the parolee program be so successful. When it comes to illegal immigration, you’ve seen it come down by more than 90%. And that’s because of this, the actions that this president has taken,” Jean-Pierre brazenly lied.

Wow. Her outrageous lies would almost be hysterical, given how obvious they are, if the implications weren’t so deadly serious.

“But we know that more action needs to be taken. So it has to be legislative action. We’re going to continue to call Congress to do that. And so, this is important to this president. On day one, on day one, he put forth a legislation to move forward on this,” Jean-Pierre added pointedly.

Way to blame Republicans for the crisis, Jean-Pierre.

Especially as Biden is the one, who, “on day one,” shut down funding for Trump’s wall, a blatantly illegal action that no one in the left-stream media called him out on.

Needless to say, Doocy was unimpressed.

“You said yesterday that when it comes to illegal migration, you’ve seen it come down by more than 90%. Where did that number come from?” Doocy demanded.

“If the dramatics would come down just a little bit … I’m going to answer,” Jean-Pierre retorted.

“What’s dramatic about asking a question?” Doocy replied, incredulous by her melodramatic response.

“So I was speaking to the parolee program,” Jean-Pierre ranted, “as you know, the President put in place a parolee program to deal with to deal with certain countries on ways that we can limit illegal migration. And we have seen the data has shown us that is gone down by more than a percent. That was what I was speaking to.”

In other words, Jean-Pierre provided zero insight into where she got her (clearly invented or misappropriated) statistic.

And, realizing she had to deal with a real question, Jean-Pierre dodged further inquiries from Doocy, underscoring the degree to which he put her in her place.

“We’re going to go. We’re going to move,” Jean-Pierre proclaimed, before hurrying on to a much more favorable question.

Bill Melugin, a Fox correspondent in Los Angeles, provided a rather clear answer regarding illegal immigration, and it soon becomes clear why Jean-Pierre was dodging.

“There was a window of time earlier this year where encounters with Venezuelans, Nicaraguans, and Cubans did temporarily dip 90% after a policy change, but other countries, like China, shot up over 800%. Illegal crossings, including Venezuelans, back at peak highs now,” Melugin drawled.

Nothing like a good old-fashioned fact check to put a perennially incompetent press secretary in her place.
