Social Media Giant Set To “Die” Over Rapidly Advancing Deadline

While President Donald Trump has been scoring epic victories left and right in terms of the mass deportation of migrants, perhaps his greatest victory of all will be forcing Beijing to stand down from its belligerent stance.

Indeed, per recent media reports, Trump has been pushing for an acquisition of TikTok, the social media giant with direct links to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

A number of potential buyers for the platform have been floated, from Meta to Microsoft to Elon Musk.

However, regardless of who buys the platform, such a transition must take place rapidly, especially as the deadline for an American purchase is running out.

And it would appear that Beijing is ready to let the platform “die” rather than fall into American hands … almost as if the entire TikTok debacle is a microcosm of outright war between the United States and China.

“Trump wants a TikTok deal, but China still might let it die,” Mashable media announced, citing a report from the Washington Post.

“In a new report from the Washington Post, Sources involved in the deal discussions say that it appears the Chinese government may still let it die unless it receives ‘larger concessions’ from the Trump administration on other policies, such as trade. ByteDance requires approval from China’s government before signing off on any sale, and Trump’s new tariffs certainly haven’t done a potential deal any favors,” Mashable continued.

Well, China launching a subsequent war against Trump with the World Trade Organization (WTO), despite frequently being called out for WTO violations itself, has not done “any favors” either.

Frankly, in the long term, the loss of TikTok is probably no real loss, especially when considering its devastating impacts on younger people.

And while the Democrats may be more silent in their fight against TikTok now, continuing their general lack of cooperation, more than one Biden official was not silent last year, including former FBI Director Christopher Wray.

“TikTok, for us, represents a national security concern. The reason I say that is TikTok’s parent company is beholden to the Chinese government,” Wray declared.

Without a doubt. And that’s precisely why the Chinese government is willing to let the platform “die” rather than thrive in more capable, less communist hands.

“[TikTok] could use it for all sorts of influence operations, like driving their AI efforts which are not even remotely constrained by the rule of law. They are currently attempting to steal our AI and hack American technology every day, and when it comes to TikTok we are concerned very specifically about the risks that that poses given China’s well demonstrated playbook,” Wray prattled on.

“It is unfortunate that the House of Representatives is using the cover of important foreign and humanitarian assistance to once again jam through a ban bill that would trample the free speech rights of 170 million Americans,” TikTok CEO Shou Chew declared.

Well, it’s even more unfortunate that a communist regime is blatantly violating numerous Americans’ constitutional rights, especially for highly nefarious, manipulative purposes.

Moreover, communist-controlled technology does not have “First Amendment” rights … Yet another civics lesson that has been lost on too many.

Hopefully, Trump will hold firm to the national security concerns that propelled him to the presidency not once, but now twice in formal channels … and holding firm to those ideals is indeed what will make America remain great.
