In New York City’s mayoral race, the battle lines are clear. On one side stands Andrew Cuomo, a former Democrat now running as an independent. On the other is Zohran Mamdani, a self-proclaimed socialist and current state assemblyman. The stakes couldn’t be higher—not just for New York, but for the country. This race is a test of whether voters will embrace radical leftist ideas or return to common sense leadership.
Mamdani claims that President Trump supports Cuomo. That is simply not true. Cuomo himself called the idea “ludicrous.” In fact, he says it’s Mamdani—not him—who Republicans want to win. Why? Because if Mamdani wins, Republicans can point to New York City and say, “This is what the Democratic Party has become.” A win for Mamdani would be a win for the far-left fringe, and it would hurt Democrats in elections all across America.
Think about what Mamdani stands for. He has supported abolishing the police, legalizing prostitution, and shutting down jails. He wants everything to be “free”—free housing, free healthcare, free college. But nothing in life is truly free. Taxpayers—hardworking Americans—always pay the price for these so-called “free” programs.
Mamdani’s vision is not just unwise. It is dangerous. Public safety, small business, and property rights would all be at risk under his policies. He may have the support of people like Bernie Sanders, but most Americans know better. We know that socialism has failed wherever it’s been tried—from Venezuela to California.
Let’s be clear: President Trump is not meddling in this race. Despite what Mamdani claims, there is no backroom deal happening. The New York Times reported that some Trump advisers discussed offering jobs to other candidates, but even that never came to pass. Mayor Eric Adams is staying in the race. Curtis Sliwa, the Republican nominee, has said he won’t take any job in a Trump administration. The idea that Cuomo and Trump are teaming up is just a desperate lie from a candidate who’s trying to distract voters from his extreme record.
Cuomo, for all his flaws, is telling the truth on this point. He warned voters that Mamdani’s radical views aren’t just talk. They’re on video, and they’re part of his record. And once you support dangerous ideas like defunding the police or giving away private property, you can’t take those words back.
Yes, Cuomo once served as a Democrat. And yes, he’s had his share of controversies. But in this race, he represents the only real alternative to socialist chaos. The other candidates—Adams and Sliwa—remain on the ballot, but even Cuomo admits they won’t win. This is a two-man race. And the choice is stark.
Do New Yorkers want a city that protects families, businesses, and law enforcement? Or do they want to gamble on a socialist vision that has never worked anywhere it’s been tried?
This is more than a local election. It’s a warning signal to the rest of the nation. If New York City hands power to a man like Mamdani, it sends a message that socialism is on the rise. That is not the America our Founders built. That’s not the Constitution our soldiers have fought to defend.
President Trump has stood strong for law and order, for economic freedom, and for putting America first. Whatever Cuomo’s past, he is not the radical in this race. And Mamdani is not a harmless idealist—he is a real threat to the stability of one of our nation’s greatest cities.
Let’s hope New Yorkers see through the noise and make the right choice. The whole country is watching.
