Quite recently, New York City Mayor Eric Adams soared to the headlines after President Donald Trump’s DOJ ordered the state to drop its investigation into the beleaguered Democrat.
Naturally, Adams was incredibly grateful to have a fifteen-month nightmare end, which suspiciously began after he criticized the Biden-Harris administration’s approach to border security … or lack thereof.
Adams had also long indicated his interest in cooperating with the Trump administration on illegal migration, which sent quite a few super-woke Democrats into a rage.
Especially when contrasting Adams’s desire to reduce illegal immigration with Chicago Mayor “Brandon” Johnson’s apparent desire to increase illegal migration.
However, gratitude of any kind towards Trump might meet with swift punishment, as illuminated in recent headlines.
“NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ Fealty to Trump Threatens to Wreck Democrat Support,” Bloomberg recently declared.
You don’t say.
Indeed, according to a stunning report from the New York Post, none other than New York Governor Kathy Hochul has hinted, at least obliquely, that Adams may well be forced to step down.
Given the Dems’ obsession with DEI politics, and the fact that Adams is only the second black mayor in the highly diverse city’s history, it is likely that such a demand would not play well in liberal media optics.
Which is why hapless Hochul herself plays coy.
During an appearance on the ever-liberal show run by MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, Hochul noted that the investigation into Adams had been “extremely concerning,” though she is making an effort to avoid “knee-jerk” reactions.
“The allegations are extremely concerning and serious, but I cannot as the governor of this state have a knee-jerk, politically motivated reaction like a lot of other people are saying right now,” Hochul declared.
“Allegations” in reference to Adams supposedly engaging in quid pro quo politics. That said, even if he did, it is rather unfortunate and disappointing … and also indicative of many other politicians’ behavior, including the far more destructive behavior of Biden himself!
At least Adams does not appear to be linked to any nation engaged in an entrenched, extensive war that benefits from billions in American taxpayer revenue … and the same cannot be said for freshly pardoned Hunter Biden.
Truth be told, the widespread corruption is troubling, but the increased weaponization of the judicial system is even more troubling.
“I have to do what’s smart, what’s right and I’m consulting with other leaders in government at this time,” Hochul continued, “this just happened. I need some time to process this and figure out the right approach.”
Right.
Seems that a “smart approach” would be letting her secondhand man use the brass tacks approach instead.
“Hochul’s comments come on the heels of her second-in-command, Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado, calling on Adams to resign, accusing the Big Apple leader of being in Trump’s pocket,” the New York Post wryly observed.
“New York City deserves a Mayor accountable to the people, not beholden to the President … Mayor Adams should step down,” Delgado declared on social media.
Hochul was quick to distance herself publicly from Delgado’s remarks, though a careful reading of her remarks illustrates that she did not directly disagree with the aggressive demands for Adams to step down either.
“Gov. Hochul is carefully reviewing these allegations. Lieutenant Governor Delgado does not now and has not ever spoken on behalf of this administration,” a Hochul spokesperson sniffed.
Interestingly, the spokesperson directly declares that Delgado is not a spokesperson for Hochul, though the spokesperson curiously avoids the subject of whether or not Hochul agrees with demands for Adams to step down.
Other officials, however, have stepped down in anger, apparently appalled over Adams daring to cooperate.
Danielle Sassoon, who was acting Manhattan US Attorney, resigned over the alleged
“quid pro quo” that Adams purportedly engaged in.
“It is a breathtaking and dangerous precedent to reward Adams’s opportunistic and shifting commitments on immigration and other policy matters with dismissal of a criminal indictment,” Sassoon raged.
Right.
The same could be said for Biden and Harris’s political ascension alike, but it is what it is.
Alex Spiro, Adams’s attorney blasted Sassoon’s remarks as “a total lie.”
Regardless, it is pretty clear Adams had a bullseye’ on his back as soon as he dared to support the Trump administration, and the latest threats against his leadership further illuminate the likelihood of that deliberate witch hunt.
For now, however, Adams continues to prevail.
