Bipartisan Group Shreds Biden’s Blank Check Billions

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, the Biden administration has been eagerly shelling out billion after billion, to the extent that more than one taxpayer’s eyebrow has been raised.

While the vast majority of Americans of all political persuasions should be united in the destruction of innocent life, one does wonder how that many billions are being accounted for.

Or if they’re being accounted for at all, as more than one representative has suggested that the billions going abroad are largely unaccounted for, especially given the speed at which the financial and military aid has been sent.

During an appearance on ABC’s “This Week,” Ohio Congressman Mike Turner detailed how the general absence of transparency regarding Biden’s multibillion dollar expenditures is precisely why both Republican and Democrat representatives aim to evaluate the aid sent to Ukraine more deeply.

“I went to Ukraine in a bipartisan group for the sole purposes of telling President Zelenskyy that he does have continued support and he will have bipartisan support. The issue, obviously, is this, we don’t need to pass $40 billion large Democrat bills that have been passed to send $8 billion to Ukraine,” Turner declared.

Bipartisan support … precisely what Biden promised while on the “campaign trail” from his basement.

Bipartisanship is hardly the outcome of the Biden presidency to date, unfortunately, though at least some GOP representatives are making a clear effort to do so with their Democrat colleagues.

In particular the ones concerned with the virtues that concern American people, especially with regards to accountability.

“We are going to provide more oversight, transparency, and accountability,” Turner continued, “we’re not going to write a blank check. You know, the last $40 billion package that passed, it was given to us the day of the vote. And members only had a matter of hours to go through all these pages of $40 billion supplemental.”

Exactly.

When that many billions are at stake, especially during times of economic downturn, representatives should have more than “a few hours” to look over all the pages that allegedly detail where the billions will be spent.

However, despite almost no time to review the pages, billions upon billions are approved anyway.

Turner asserts that conservatives and moderate Democrats certainly don’t oppose assisting Ukraine; what they do oppose is unchecked billions in aid, which may be diverted when no transparency or accountability is in sight.

“However, the Republicans are not going to rule like that. We have a voice now and we’re going to do this in an accountable way, with transparency to the American people. These are American taxpayer dollars going in. Does that diminish our will to help the Ukraine people fight? No. But we’re going to do it in a responsible way,” Turner stressed.

One thing is for sure: The Biden administration has certainly gone about things in a less than responsible way.

As reported by the Center for Strategic International Studies (CSIS), the White House has shipped a staggering amount of billions to the war-torn nation.

“U.S. aid to Ukraine totals $68 billion … On November 15, the administration submitted a new aid request of $37.7 billion which, if passed, would bring the total to $105.5 billion,” CSIS reported.

Needless to say, this level of funding is quite massive, and likely untenable during prolonged economic downturn.

Kevin McCarthy, the likely Speaker of the House, noted that Americans would likely express growing discontent.

“I think people are gonna be sitting in a recession and they’re not going to write a blank check to Ukraine,” McCarthy drawled.

Senator John Thune was more forthright about accountability, echoing several of Turner’s sentiments.

“There’s a strong bipartisan support for supporting Ukraine, but I think there’s also an interest in having accounting for the dollars that have already been spent,” Thune asserted.

Without a doubt …
