Feckless FCC Makes Astounding Move Against Rural Internet Access

For all their talk of equity, Dems sure do come up short when it comes to extending equal outcomes to specific groups of people.

In particular individuals who reside in rural areas, as evidenced by the recent refusal of the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) to facilitate greater Internet access for rural regions.

As reported by the New York Post, the Dem-heavy agency recently voted in favor of delaying a buildout that would facilitate Internet access in rural communities.

This would be the same FCC that just voted in favor of a massive radio takeover, funded by none other than George Soros.

Guess blatant foreign ownership of the media is a higher priority for the FCC than facilitating rural Internet access.

Little wonder that FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr referred to the vote against rural Internet as “the worst abuse of agency process I have seen in my twelve years of working at the FCC.”

“I have never heard of the FCC granting relief like this with no process, no public input, and no heads up,” Carr declared.

Well, that’s the new and unimproved FCC under Biden and Harris, unfortunately.

Carr also highlighted the secretive nature of the Dems’ machinations, which is an apparent standard these days.

“The Democrats in FCC leadership cut a secret, backroom deal – one that kept the Republican FCC Commissioners and perhaps others completely in the dark – and then hustled it out the door on a Friday afternoon,” Carr noted.

A backroom deal made all the more problematic by the fact that the federal government apparently blocked Elon Musk from rolling out Starlink to rural communities.

As reported by Forbes in January, Biden and Harris thumbed their noses at Musk through proposing a vastly more expensive plan for rural Interent.

“President Biden announced an $82 million investment in high-speed internet in rural North Carolina, drawing criticism from SpaceX CEO Elon Musk …

The Biden administration’s announcement on Friday drew heavy criticism from FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr, a Republican appointed by President Trump, who noted the new investment cost $5,125 per location – compared to an estimated lower cost of $1,377 per household the government would have spent if they renewed SpaceX’s subsidies from the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund,”

That’s rather stinging, considering the degree to which the government has simultaneously ensured that Musk cannot help either.

As detailed by Forbes in 2022, “the Federal Communications Commission has denied SpaceX’s application to receive $888.5 million in funding to bring its Starlink satellite broadband internet service to rural areas.”

In other words, the Biden-backed FCC not only has failed to facilitate rural Internet access, it has also blocked sensible solutions, such as Elon Musk’s Starlink.
