Michigan Senate Candidate Slammed for Controversial Israel Comments

When a man runs for the United States Senate, the people have a right to expect honesty, clarity, and a deep respect for truth. But what we saw this week from Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed was none of those things. On the very anniversary of one of the darkest days for Israel in recent memory — the terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023 — El-Sayed sent out a fundraising email that failed to mention the horror of that day and instead accused Israel of wrongdoing.

Let’s remember what happened on October 7, 2023. Hamas, a known terrorist group, launched a brutal attack on Israel. Over 1,200 innocent people were killed — men, women, and even children. It was the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust. And yet, El-Sayed’s email ignored all that. Instead, he blamed Israel for a “ground invasion” and accused the nation of causing tragedy.

That’s not just bad judgment. It’s a rewriting of history. And it’s dangerous.

To make matters worse, El-Sayed’s campaign later tried to brush it off as a “mistake.” But even in his official statement, he continued to accuse Israel of “genocide.” He offered a weak condemnation of Hamas, but then turned right back to blaming Israel — the country that was attacked.

This isn’t the first time El-Sayed has taken this kind of stance. Earlier this year, he spoke at an event with people who openly support Hamas. One of them even said they felt “euphoria” over the October 7 attack. That should tell us everything we need to know about who El-Sayed is choosing to stand with.

Let’s be clear: supporting innocent Palestinians does not mean you have to excuse terrorism. It does not mean blaming Israel for defending itself. But that’s exactly what El-Sayed is doing. And sadly, he’s not alone. Other Democrats in Michigan, like state Senator Mallory McMorrow, are taking similar anti-Israel positions. The far-left wing of the Democratic Party is growing louder, and it’s becoming more dangerous.

This is not what America stands for. Our country supports freedom, justice, and the right to self-defense. Israel is one of our closest allies. It is the only true democracy in the Middle East. When terrorists attack our friends, we should stand with them — not twist the story for political gain.

El-Sayed has been endorsed by Bernie Sanders, a proud socialist, and Congressman Ro Khanna, both known for their extreme views. But Michigan voters should ask themselves: do we really want a senator who excuses terror and attacks our allies?

For more than two decades, Democrats have held both Senate seats in Michigan. But times are changing. Republican Mike Rogers is running again in 2026, and he may be the best chance we have to bring common sense and strong leadership back to the state.

The people of Michigan deserve a senator who tells the truth, who defends our allies, and who puts America first. Abdul El-Sayed has shown that he is not that person.

Every election is a test of our values. In 2026, Michigan voters will have a chance to send a clear message: we will not reward those who play politics with terror. We will not support candidates who rewrite history. And we will not stand by while our country’s honor is dragged through the mud.

It’s time to return to the founding principles of truth, courage, and liberty. The people of Michigan — and of this great nation — deserve nothing less.
