For someone who claimed he was interested in a ceasefire with Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin sure is making a number of strange moves.
And one of the strangest moves of all includes his increasingly public mockery of the United States, along with its allies.
That mockery also extends to American President Donald Trump directly, to the extent that longstanding, pro-Trump media outlets have taken note.
According to a troubling report from the New York Post, Trump may well have no option to play serious hardball, rather than diplomatic hardball, at the rate Putin is going.
“It’s getting personal,” the New York Post admitted at the start of the article, right before segueing into all the various ways in which Russia is clearly acting far more egregiously than expected.
For instance, shortly after claiming to be interested in “peace,” Russia promptly proceeded to launch over 300 missiles and drones at Kiev, senselessly killing more civilians.
That claim also closely followed a dialogue between Trump and Putin, and it is clear that the latter is increasingly disregarding the former.
Naturally, Trump is quite ticked.
“I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him.He has gone absolutely CRAZY! He is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I’m not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot into Cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever,” Trump raged.
For no reason whatsoever … aside from openly mocking the United States and its allies.
And that mockery hit an additional low when Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov jeered about the alleged “gratitude” the Kremlin feels towards Trump “personally.”
“We are really grateful to the Americans and to President Trump personally for their assistance in organizing and launching this negotiation process,” Peskov declared.
Right. Given what Peskov says next, it is clear that he has a rather strange idea of what constitutes “gratitude.”
“Of course, at the same time, this is a very crucial moment, which is associated, of course, with the emotional overload of everyone absolutely and with emotional reactions,” Peskov added.
Sure, Peskov – otherwise known as Putin’s minion – sure.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was also equally unimpressed by the latest jeers and insults from Moscow, underscoring the damage that Ukrainian citizens continue to sustain under extreme military violence.
“Over 900 attack drones launched against Ukraine in just three days, along with ballistic and cruise missiles. There is no military logic in this, but it is a clear political choice of Russia – the choice to keep waging war. Only a sense of complete impunity can allow Russia to carry out such strikes and constantly increase their scale,” Zelensky asserted.
And that “complete impunity,” per varied pro-Trump sources, means no more diplomacy … but rather hardcore military responses.
As noted in a separate opinion piece within the New York Post, Peskov’s accusations “sure [sound] like Putin’s mouthpiece calling our prez hysterical.”
For this reason, the opinion piece recommended secondary sanctions, which would hammer China, alongside expanded military assistance to Ukraine, a veritable “one-two punch.”
Considering the United States is in a trade war with China anyway, it seems quite logical to take action that will contribute to crippling both Russia and China simultaneously.
“With Putin’s minion now practically mocking Trump, we see no other way to get the killing stopped,” the New York Post argued, further underscoring the value of its “one-two punch.”
Relative to how flagrantly Putin has violently disregarded any effort towards a real ceasefire, it would seem that the New York Post is right on point … just as it has been right on point with more than one dour political situation in the past.
Unfortunately, that point may also lead to World War III … though the world may be headed there regardless.
