Despite his recent tweet about how he “feels” concerned for Ohio (nearly two weeks late), Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg apparently has left a number of people rather unimpressed.
The recent, devastating train derailment has effectively poisoned East Palestine, Ohio, which resident Jessica Helpy detailed in remarks to Fox News.
“It’s not OK for people to be here right now. I know that an evacuation order has been lifted, but the air quality is not OK,” Helpy asserted.
Definitely not at all acceptable for the federal government to pay minimal attention to a red state.
And while it is not safe for East Palestine residents right now, the nation’s transportation will never be safe with Buttigieg at the help, quite clearly.
Which is precisely why Senator Marco Rubio has effectively roared for Buttigieg’s resignation.
In a letter to “President” Biden, which will likely be ignored, Rubio blasts the “two-year long pattern” established by bungling Buttigieg.
“Secretary Buttigieg downplayed and ignored crisis after crisis … [and] at no time has that been more apparent than the past two weeks. Secretary Buttigieg refused to acknowledge the disaster in East Palestine, Ohio, until his intentional ignorance was no longer tenable,” Rubio asserted.
Translation: Buttigieg responded once the media turned up the heat.
Otherwise, he could clearly care less, given his fixation on racial division, a key “policy” of the Biden regime.
And when he isn’t busy buttressing Biden’s mania, he’s extremely busy deflecting.
“Even after acknowledging the tragedy, he continues to deflect any accountability for the safety of our nation’s rail system,” Rubio remarked in disgust.
Astonishingly, Buttigieg actually tried to blame the crisis on Trump, as he claimed he was being “constrained” by the Trump administration.
Yes, the same Trump administration that was effectively forced out of power in 2020.
Apparently, Dems want Trump out of the White House, but they don’t want him to cease being their perpetual punching bag when things go wrong.
Which, with Dems, is almost always.
“We’re constrained by law on some areas of rail regulation (like the braking rule withdrawn by the Trump administration in 2018 because of a law passed by Congress in 2015), but we are using the powers we do have to keep people safe,” Buttigieg whined.
Keep people safe? Is he for real?
Rubio clearly doesn’t think he is, given his rather bleak recitation of the “facts” that define Buttigieg’s alleged service to date.
“During historic maritime and surface transportation disruptions in 2021, Secretary Buttigieg was completely absent. Amidst an impending possible rail strike last year, Secretary Buttigieg left the country to vacation in Portuguese wine country,” Rubio continued.
Well, as long as Buttigieg graced Portuguese wineries with his presence, all must be well. Talk about a champagne socialist …
In fact, maybe all is too well, given that Buttigieg comes across as straight up inebriated with regards to his pitiable FAA performance.
“Near misses in commercial aviation, as well as recent system failures, including the one that shutdown air travel in Florida in January, indicate that serious and persistent problems across the DOT are not being sufficiently remedied,” Rubio drawled.
Well, that would be because Buttigieg, the consummate woke academic, apparently believes that “racist roads” constitute the most pressing concern of the nation.
Even more distressingly, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has announced that the federal government has effectively blown off Ohio.
“The DeWine Administration has been in daily contact with FEMA to discuss the need for federal support, however FEMA continues to tell Governor DeWine that Ohio is not eligible for assistance at this time. Governor DeWine will continue working with FEMA to determine what assistance can be provided,” DeWine remarked.
Apparently, FEMA claimed that the accident did not constitute a “traditional” natural disaster.
Well, that’s good to know, as another train filled with hazardous chemicals derailed just outside Detroit, Michigan.
Michigan Representative Debbie Dingell, a Democrat, was a bit more on the ball that Buttigieg in her response, claiming that “at this time” no hazardous chemicals have been released.
“We are also in touch with the relevant federal authorities, including the EPA. At this time no one is aware of the release of any hazardous materials, the car carrying hazardous material has been put upright and is being removed from the area of the other derailed cars, and EPA is dispatching a team to ensure public safety,” Dingell declared.
Well, how comforting. What isn’t comforting is the thought of Buttigieg in charge of one of the most critical elements of the country in terms of national security in the future …
