Woke School District Rebels Against DeSantis

One can see why Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is intent on abolishing the Department of Education (DOE).

After all, just consider some of the terrible educational policies it supports.

Earlier this fall, a rather distressing headline emerged from Oregon Live: “Oregon again says students don’t need to prove mastery of reading, writing or math to graduate, citing harm to students of color.”

As detailed in the article, students who “graduate” from high school in Oregon will not have to demonstrate basic competence in writing, reading, or math before receiving their diploma … until at least 2029.

A deranged policy that began during the pandemic, Governor Kate Brown apparently has such a low opinion of “students of color” that she deems it appropriate to pass such ridiculous educational “standards” that only serve to further disadvantage them for the remainder of their lives.

After all, if students effectively cannot write, read, or perform basic mathematics, exactly what type of profession, or even basic job, might they expect to have in the future?

Or is the real endgame total disempowerment of the majority of the American population, aided and abetted by Biden’s buddies abroad?

Buddies that clearly have a vested interest in the internal destruction of the United States, starting with brainwashing college students and simultaneously brainwashing and dumbing down every generation of students to follow thereafter.

A highly effective approach in authoritarian regimes, straight out of 1984.

And, just in case one may feel safe in a red state – think again.

Of all states, a county within Florida has just passed a rather surprising new policy in its educational system.

Much to DeSantis’s chagrin.

Hint: That policy does not involve increased expectations. On the contrary, they are decreased.

As reported by Fox News, Pasco County apparently thinks it’s a great idea to give students “mini-breaks” throughout October, February, and April in the 2024-2025 school year.

Hilariously, these breaks are designed to improve school attendance.

According to Assistant Superintendent Kevin Shibley, the mini breaks, which are in addition to spring break, summer break, and all holiday breaks, will apparently provide students with “vacation time” during the year.

“We are hoping that by placing those four-day weekends strategically, we can encourage our students and families to take their trips or vacations on those long weekends instead of taking off instructional days,” Shibley brayed.

Way to prepare students for the real world, assuming a functional work world even exists by the time these teenagers become theoretically hardworking Americans.

“And so, we’re going to try and market that to our families this year. And here are some mini-breaks throughout the year, so that if you want to take some time off, let’s do it then and not miss school during scheduled school,” Shibley continued.

“It is different, but we’re going to try something new, right?” board chairman Megan Harding chimed in.

Eh, sure.

Switching genders is “something new” for youth as well … and look at how not well that’s been going.

Needless to say, more than one individual is more than aware of the Dems’ determination to continue promoting ignorance and non-education.

“More days off to combat absenteeism? That is like legalizing shoplifting to reduce crime rates. Oh wait…they’ve already done that,” one commenter drawled.

“In the old days it was called truancy and enough of it would put the parents in jail … How times have changed,” another individual added.

Have they ever.
