While this move was under-scrutinized by the press, as usual, the Biden administration recently shocked several individuals by extending the COVID health emergency again, for the eleventh time.
Mind you, this is after Biden has also claimed for months, at least sporadically, that the pandemic is “over,” as reported by CNBC.
“President Joe Biden said the pandemic was over in September, a period when infections, hospitalizations and deaths were all declining. But HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra told reporters during a call in October what the virus does this winter would determine whether or not the emergency needs to continue,” the outlet noted.
And, lo and behold, the XBB.1.5 “subvariant” has emerged, which of course is more transmissible and frightening than ever.
What’s really remarkable is the White House’s attempt to have it both ways – Claim the pandemic is over for popularity, yet also continue to claim emergency powers over the same pandemic.
Right. The pandemic is so “over” that he just can’t stop extending national emergencies, especially since national emergencies endow the president with unprecedented power.
Perhaps Biden has the first presidency in American history that has been marked by national emergencies since Day 1?
If the nation is always in a state of emergency, how can people ever distinguish between an emergency and non-emergency?
Maybe that’s the point.
In many ways, the extension of the nation emergency merely represents another attempt at authoritarianism by the increasingly brazen Democrat Party.
While the vast majority of the planet has wisely moved on from COVID hysteria, China and the United States have not. What a curious “partnership.”
That said, the obsession with keeping the authoritarianism associated with COVID alive is rather evident in 2023, given the mandatory mask mandates that are, incredibly, sweeping school campuses yet again.
As reported by the Daily Mail, a huge number of students in the United States is affected.
“Hundreds of thousands of students across the US will be forced to wear face masks in class when schools go back this week as controversial mandates make a return.
Despite Covid infection rates plateauing for months, elementary and high schools in New Jersey, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania have made face coverings a condition of entry for students returning from the holidays,” the outlet reported.
What a surprise. That’s right in line with Los Angeles constantly threatening to reinstate mandatory mask mandates everywhere.
Eilen Shafer, the superintendent of Paterson Public School District in New Jersey, delivered remarkably careless commentary to parents regarding the new and unimproved school mandates.
“’I know this is a relief to some, and a frustration to others. No matter what your position may be, I ask for your cooperation,” Shafer drawled.
Eh, perhaps a relief to the individuals who drive around in their personal cars, alone, while wearing double masks. The same type of individuals who will eagerly line up for their 29th booster shot.
For most other people, not to mention most of the world, the new and unimproved mandates will indeed be a source of “frustration.”
Truly, Shafer delivers perhaps one of the more tone-deaf messages to parents beleaguered by mandatory mandates that serve to enrich China, the top manufacturer of face masks.
Almost as if “the Big Guy” is getting 10 percent from PPE well into his presidency.
“Please continue to maintain universal masking throughout our buildings and we encourage you to take all other precautions against the spread of the Covid-19, RSV, flu virus including frequent hand washing, avoiding large gatherings, and staying home when sick,” Shafer added, providing advice that has been widely acknowledged as common sense for decades.
As also reported by the Daily Mail, the mask mandates are all the more repugnant when considering the damage they are causing to young children’s immune systems.
“Experts have repeatedly warned lockdowns and measures used to contain Covid like face masks also suppressed the spread of germs which are crucial for building a strong immune system in children,” the outlet observed.
So, in other words, Democrats don’t want kids with healthy immune systems.
What a strange objective. Almost as if they want a chronically sick population dependent upon pharmaceutical companies for survival.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, on the other hand, has actually followed the science, not to mention basic respect for parental rights, as evidenced in his battle – and victory – against school mask mandates in Florida.
“No surprise here – the 1st DCA has restored the right of parents to make the best decisions for their children. I will continue to fight for parents’ rights,” DeSantis declared in 2021.
Ironically, “the science” that Democrats self-identify with so much, at least on the surface (heck, Fauci proclaims that he IS science) shows that masks are problematic in a number of other ways, aside from stunting children’s immune systems, which may well be the point anyway if depopulation rumors have credible support.
Humorously, face masks are increasingly identified as “an emerging source of plastic pollution,” as evidenced by yet another article regarding the waste and pollution generated by face masks in a peer-reviewed journal, the type that feaures all the “science” Democrats claim to have dominion on.
They tend to ignore studies like this, even though the reality is masks appear to run totally contrary to Dems’ “green” initiatives.
Then again, so does Democrats’ routine usage of private jets, in particular Empress Pelosi.
