Looks like the radicals in San Francisco have commenced yet another contagion effect. San Francisco, already notorious for destroying itself through a drug-addled homeless crisis, has also “led” the nation in terms of the so-called reparations movement.
California, rather ironically, was never even a slave-holding state, but virulent Dems never let such inconvenient little facts get in the way of an overly melodramatic political ploy.
University of Chicago Against Displacement (UCAD), an anti-gentrification student club, apparently think it’s a great idea for the University of Chicago to pay $1B in reparations to residents of the city’s violent South Side.
In fact, they think it’s such a great idea that they aren’t asking for $1B in reparations from their university, they’re demanding it.
And these demands are dressed up in the self-righteous vitriol that they learned from institutes of so-called education in the first place.
“The University exists as a legacy of chattel slavery. Moreover, it has been an active participant in segregation, redlining, and supporting developments that work to isolate the University from its neighbors and put Southsiders at risk of displacement from their homes,” UCAD wrote in a searing editorial.
“A legacy of chattel slavery.”
Do these effectively illiterate students ever consider the fact that several other groups also suffered tremendously, including the Japanese who were placed in internment camps less than a century ago?
The United States also dropped a nuclear bomb on Japan as well, yet the nation has become one of our closest allies today.
However, after World War II, Japan went on to become a world leader in electronics, whereas woke lefties in the United States remained intent on being immersed in the past, if only to compensate for doing nothing in the present and even less in the future.
To be fair, however, at least the students had the sense to realize that the current housing crisis in Chicago may be attributed to none other than Emperor Obama, whose presidential library, effectively a palace, has been cited as directly responsible for displacing the very people who empowered him in the first place.
“This is especially crucial at this moment as the Obama Center in Jackson Park increases land values and, in turn, rental prices. “As residents deal with the economic hardships and an exacerbation of the homelessness crisis caused by COVID-19, these rent increases will only serve to further displace Southside residents,” the students continued angrily.
Looks like the snowflakes might, just might, eventually catch on to how they are routinely played by the Dems.
Though they may keep blindly voting for them anyway, as reported by varied outlets, in spite of the negative impact on their lives.
“Even though residents of the South Shore neighborhood voted overwhelmingly for the Democrat both in 2008 and 2012, they stand to lose their homes should the project cause rents and home prices to skyrocket even further.
Their demands include developing affordable housing from the city-owned vacant lots in a neighborhood whose residents are predominantly low-income and Black, as well as allocating money to the Chicago Low-Income Trust Fund for subsidized units in the area,” Business Insider reported.
So, students want a university to pay $1B for a mess that a former woke president created.
Right.
Just imagine, had Obama never been president, his monstrous palace would never have been constructed … and the “Big Guy” never would have had a chance to sell out the nation on such an epic scale.
