Schumer’s Leadership Crisis: Disapproval Soars Across Parties

The American people are waking up to the truth. A new poll shows that most Americans disapprove of how Senator Chuck Schumer is doing his job as the Minority Leader in the U.S. Senate. And it’s not just Republicans saying this. Independents and even many Democrats are unhappy with Schumer’s leadership. That’s a clear sign something is deeply wrong with how he is handling his duties.

According to a recent Economist/YouGov survey, 52 percent of voters disapprove of Schumer’s job performance. Only 23 percent approve. That’s more than twice as many people unhappy with him than those who support him. Among Republicans, 64 percent disapprove. Among independents, it’s 54 percent. And even among Democrats, only 43 percent approve of Schumer. That means a majority of Democrats either disapprove or are unsure. For someone who’s supposed to be leading his party in the Senate, that’s a serious problem.

So why is Chuck Schumer so unpopular? The answer is simple. He’s not working for the people. He’s playing politics to protect his own career, even if it hurts the country.

Right now, Schumer and Senate Democrats are refusing to reopen the government. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has offered a clean continuing resolution — the same kind Schumer once supported. But now Schumer is blocking it. Why? Because he’s afraid of the far-left wing of his party. The Marxist radicals on the left attacked him earlier this year when he supported a similar measure to keep the government open. He nearly lost his leadership position, all because he dared to do the right thing.

So now, Schumer has changed course. Instead of standing up for everyday Americans who are suffering because of the shutdown, he’s standing up for socialist activists and political consultants. According to Speaker Johnson, Schumer and his team came up with a political stunt. They decided no matter how good a funding bill might be — no matter how much pain it would prevent for families and workers — they would vote against it. Why? To look like they were fighting President Trump.

This is not leadership. This is cowardice and self-interest.

The consequences are real. Americans are being hurt. Families who rely on SNAP food benefits are running out of time. Government workers are waiting for paychecks. Veterans are facing delays in services. All because Chuck Schumer wants to protect his job instead of doing his job.

This is not how our system was meant to work. The Founders gave us a government where leaders are supposed to serve the people, not themselves. Leaders are supposed to act with courage, not fear. But Schumer is doing the opposite. He’s ignoring the will of the people, and the people are responding — with disapproval.

It’s worth noting that among all current congressional leaders, Schumer has the highest disapproval rating. That includes Republicans like Senate Majority Leader John Thune and House Speaker Mike Johnson. Americans are clearly seeing through the political games, and they’re holding Schumer accountable.

At a time when our country needs unity and clear-headed leadership, all we get from Schumer is obstruction and political theater. He is not acting in good faith. He is not standing up for the Constitution. And he is certainly not putting the needs of the American people first.

President Trump and conservative leaders in Congress are offering real solutions. They are trying to fund the government, protect our borders, and restore order. But they are being blocked by a man more worried about his image than his duty.

The American people deserve better. They deserve leaders who stand by their word, who put principle over politics, and who fight for the people — not for praise from the radical left. Chuck Schumer has failed that test. The polls prove it. Now it’s time for voters to remember that come election season.
