Gotta hand it to Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
After all, Abbott was the first leader in the nation to start an ingenious bussing strategy for illegal migrants, propelling tens of thousands of illegals to so-called “sanctuary cities,” including New York City and Chicago.
These cities have long since adopted a sanctimonious attitude towards Abbott over his basic request for border security, yet their own hypocrisy has been revealed as they have freaked out over the steady stream of illegal arrivals.
What did they expect to happen, after offering hordes of them long-term, “free” stays in luxury hotels?
Thus, the same cities that are now wailing about out-of-control migration should have respect for Abbott for finally having Senate Bill 4, also known as SB 4, passed.
This bill would ensure that authorities within Texas finally have the power that they should have had all along: arresting migrants who illegally cross over the border.
“Senate Bill 4 looks to prohibit ‘sanctuary city’ policies, that prohibit local law enforcement from inquiring about a person’s immigration status and complying with detainer requests. These policies often also prohibit the sharing of information regarding a person’s immigration status with the federal government,” the bill declares, the full text of which can be read here.
The bill also “prohibits a local entity from receiving state grant funds if the entity adopts, enforces, or endorses a policy under which the entity prohibits or discourages the enforcement of immigration laws or, by consistent actions, prohibits or discourages the enforcement of immigration laws.”
Alongside SB4, Abbott has also propelled another bill forward, which is also designed to taper the massive influx of illegal migrants.
Senate Bill 3, also known as SB3, calls for $1.54 billion for Texas to continue building Trump’s wall and bolster support for state troopers.
Hilariously, SB3 asks for about 10 percent of what Biden recently demanded for illegals: The president wants $14B set aside for “processing” migrants, while Texas wants a mere $1.5B to ensure national security.
What’s wrong with this picture?
With the current crisis and rising crime rate, it is not surprising that both bills passed with flying colors.
SB 3 has now passed on a 84-59 vote, while SB 4 passed on an 83-61 vote.
Of course, the Texas Democrats freaked out over the passage of the bills, failing to use proper English while complaining.
“Why are we elected if you don’t even have the cojones [to debate]?” State Representative Victoria Neave Criado whined.
For reference, “cojones” is hardly a clean word in Spanish.
And, as for why the Republicans declined to debate, just consider the insanity Dems tried to introduce into the bill, per the Texas Tribune.
“Democrats introduced dozens of amendments to the bill, including language that would exclude immigrant children from prosecution, along with victims of trafficking and sexual assault. Other amendments said that if Mexico doesn’t accept a person from a particular country, the immigrant could use that as a defense from prosecution,” the Texas Tribune reports.
So, in other words, Dems tried to disable real justice for illegals.
Little wonder Republicans saw no need to debate.
“We all know why we’re here … SB 4 intends to challenge the decade-long holding of Arizona versus United States, given the new makeup of the United States Supreme Court, which we have seen has already overturned [the] 50-year long precedent of Roe v. Wade,” Criado continued.
Well, if the “precedent” was so important, the Dems should have passed laws at the federal level years ago.
But, they didn’t, so it is what it is, Ms. Criado.
Little wonder that a more sane Supreme Court would also side with national security over woke politics.
