Border Security Bulldozed By 22 Shapeshifting Republicans

So much securing the United States’ border before Ukraine’s border.

In a rather staggering turn of events, not one, not two, but twenty-two Republican senators apparently decided that it was a great idea to vote in favor of billions more for Ukraine … and exactly $0 for border security.

Yikes.

“The Senate passed a $95 billion national security supplemental package to assist Ukraine, Israel and the Indo-Pacific after a tedious procedural process that came to an end early Tuesday morning … The package includes $60 billion for Ukraine, $14 billion for Israel, $9 billion in humanitarian assistance for Gaza and nearly $5 billion for the Indo-Pacific,” Fox News reported.

Well then.

First things first: The $60B for Ukraine is staggeringly more than the $14B for Israel, as in more than quadruple.

That’s telling.

Perhaps what’s even more telling is the $9B in “humanitarian assistance” for Gaza.

While that may sound noble on the surface, exactly how does the current administration intend to ensure that the “humanitarian assistance” goes to actual humanitarian causes?

After all, Hamas officials are notorious for hoarding wealth, as well as using their own people, including children, as shields.

Do Biden officials seriously think that Hamas will allow $9B to actually go towards “humanitarian” purposes?

These would be the same terrorists busted with having $1M or more in cash, likely derived from other nations’ “humanitarian aid” packages.

Absent actual accountability, much like actual accountability for Ukraine, these billions appear to achieve nothing.

Tellingly, the amount dedicated to the United States and its own border issues is exactly $0, as noted by Fox News.

“The supplemental package does not include any border security provisions and comes as the national debt soars above $34 trillion. Calls to offset the spending with cuts elsewhere went unheeded,” the media outlet added.

You don’t say.

Of course, Senator Mitch McConnell had all the excuses in the world for providing billions to Ukraine.

“I know it’s become quite fashionable in some circles to disregard the global interests we have as a global power, to bemoan the responsibilities of global leadership … To lament the commitment that has underpinned the longest drought of great power conflict in human history – this is idle work for idle minds, and it has no place in the United States Senate,” McConnell brayed.

Tellingly, McConnell said nothing about the border.

Though Senator Rand Paul sure did.

“This bill gives the finger to American taxpayers … This bill gives the finger to all of America – this bill is Ukraine first, America last,” Paul remarked flatly.

A hallmark of the Biden administration.
