Retailer Declares Good Riddance To Dem City

Actions have consequences.

And, unfortunately for the individuals who remain trapped in locales such as Portland, Oregon, the heinous actions of BLM, Antifa, and varied entitled extremists have succeeded in driving more business from the city.

Walmart, the largest retailer in the world in terms of revenue, has completely had it with the nonexistent prosecution of crime in Portland, which has resulted in the retailer suffering from massive, unsustainable losses.

Of course, the thieves usually feel they are justified due to “reparations” and all, which is further encouraged by woke politicians who will literally say anything for a vote.

Walmart, however, will clearly do what it takes to maintain business, hence its closure of Portland stores, per a report from the Blaze.

“The two Walmart stores within the city limits of Portland, Oregon, will both permanently close later this month … On March 24, Portland’s only two Walmart locations — one in Delta Park in the northern section of the city and the other in Eastport Plaza about seven miles southeast of downtown — are expected to shut their doors, including their pharmacy doors, for the last time, forcing regular customers to take their business elsewhere,” the publication detailed.

A spokesperson delivered a carefully worded statement regarding the closures, clearly keen on not being accused of politically incorrect speech.

“The decision to close these stores was made after a careful review of their overall performance … We consider many factors, including current and projected financial performance, location, population, customer needs, and the proximity of other nearby stores when making these difficult decisions,” a spokesperson stated.

In other words, as most of the goods in Portland are stolen and resold at much higher prices online by criminal gangs (who simultaneously insist they are victims), Walmart has wisely decided not to pander to the woke any further.

“We have nearly 5,000 stores across the U.S. and unfortunately some do not meet our financial expectations … While our underlying business is strong, these specific stores haven’t performed as well as we hoped,” corporation remarked in another statement.

“Haven’t performed as well as we hoped.” Perhaps the nicest way to sum up the reality of the insanely woke policies that have done nothing but drive up crime rates and transform once-great cities into terrible places to live.

Portland photographer Andy Ngo, who gained notoriety filming different riots and protests, noted that varied criminal groups have lost yet another source of “revenue,” significantly harming other individuals who will now have to pay elevated prices for food elsewhere.

Extremely elevated given the current state of Biden’s ineffective economic policies.

“Walmart has announced it will permanently close all its locations in Portland, Ore. Walmart has long been harshly criticized by the city’s left-wing politicians & residents, but this shutdown follows the consequences of the 2020 BLM-Antifa riots that normalized urban criminality,” Ngo wrote on Twitter.

In other words, Walmart gave politicians a chance to clean up crime … and the politicians chose to coddle criminals.

CEO Doug McMillan, who began working at Walmart at the cash register decades ago, noted that record-breaking retail theft constituted one of the most significant reasons for the closure of the stores, which is precisely why he attempted to persuade politicians to act at the end of 2022.

“Theft is an issue. It’s higher than what it has historically been,” McMillon observed, adding that if lawmakers did not make a more serious effort to combat crime, then either prices would increase or stores would close.

As politicians decided to blow off the businessman, who actually worked his way up from an hourly position to CEO of the entire company, McMillon made the best decision for Walmart: Get out of Portland.

One can only hope other sane Portlanders make it out as well.
