Vance Blasts EU For Launching The Ultimate Threat Against Democracy

“Romania straight up canceled the results of a presidential election based on the flimsy suspicions of an intelligence agency and enormous pressure from its continental neighbors.”

So declared Vice President Vance during a bold speech at the Munich Security Conference, neatly summarizing his personal shock upon seeing such blatant interference in a nation’s democratic process.

According to a report from Fox News, Calin Georgescu, “a far-right populist candidate” in Romania, is apparently someone who doesn’t fit the mold of the EU elites.

Which appears to be precisely why the nation’s presidential elections were cancelled as Georgescu surged in popularity.

“Romania’s Constitutional Court made the unprecedented move to annul the election two days ahead of the Dec. 8 runoff after Georgescu’s first-round win … after the election cancelation, prosecutors launched an investigation into alleged campaign funding fraud, as well as alleged antisemitism and hate speech,” Fox News detailed.

Well, that’s nice. Zelensky cancels elections due to war, and now Romania is cancelling elections due to too much “winning” from the reported “far right.”

Seems to be a rather slippery slope, to put it mildly.

Georgescu himself recognizes the blatant corruption, holding that varied authorities are looking for any possible excuse to permit the steal, rather than stop it.

“[Authorities] are looking to invent evidence to justify the theft of the elections and to do anything to block my new candidacy for the presidency,” Georgescu asserted.

Naturally, Vance, along with anyone else truly dedicated to a representative democracy, is deeply concerned.

“What I worry about is the threat from within – the retreat of Europe from some of its most fundamental values, values shared with the United States of America,” Vance asserted.

Otherwise known as the values that started the entire United States of America in the first place.

“Now, I was struck that a former European commissioner went on television recently and sounded delighted that the Romanian government had just annulled an entire election. He warned that if things don’t go to plan, the very same thing could happen in Germany too,” Vance continued.

Without a doubt. Given how openly vocal many EU elites have been against anyone remotely “far right.”

Frankly, in Europe, “far right” may well be a centrist Republican in the United States, just like many European conservatives may well be “center left” in the United States.

Which is exactly why the EU elites’ open meddling in Romanian elections, amongst others, has sounded major alarms worldwide.

“Now, these cavalier statements are shocking to American ears … For years, we’ve been told that everything we fund and support is in the name of our shared democratic values. Everything from our Ukraine policy to digital censorship is billed as a defense of democracy. But when we see European courts canceling elections and senior officials threatening to cancel others, we ought to ask whether we’re holding ourselves to an appropriately high standard,” Vance continued.

Yep. Frankly, the EU has defended its varied authoritarian moves as important for “democracy” as Comrade Kamala declared her presidency to be.

Which means that the EU and Comrade Kamala have nothing democratic to offer, but they sure do have a large number of authoritarian measures dressed up as so-called “democracy” designed to dupe multiple millions into giving away their freedoms.

Above all, the freedom of thought.

And, as reported by Fox News, prosecutors have already made a move, as Georgescu has already been taken into “custody” for questioning by the nation’s top prosecutors.

Naturally, Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, who belongs to the approved Socialist party, insists that the current treatment of Georgescu is fair, and not a political witch hunt of any kind.

“The judiciary is independent & the law must be applied regardless of persons,” Ciolacu declared.

Right. Perhaps that would be more believable if Ciolacu had not openly attacked his opponents and likened them to a virus.

As reported by Reuters, Ciolacu accused the “far right” of being indifference to “every day” challenges faced by Romanians.

“You are not interested in the problems Romanians are confronting every day. You infect society day by day with the virus of lies and hatred. The political chaos you want to bring in Romania will be automatically followed by economic chaos. The euro will reach the sky. All construction sites will be closed. People will live in poverty unable to pay their bills,” Ciolacu insisted.

That’s funny. As said people appear to be reporting that reality now, given how popular the “far right” is now in Romania.

On top of that, the entire reason that Georgescu was reportedly removed was due to supposed Russian interference, which Vance questions.

“I’d asked my European friends to have some perspective … You can believe it’s wrong for Russia to buy social media advertisements to influence your elections. We certainly do. You can condemn it on the world stage, even,” Vance continued.

Certainly. Though such interference does highlight an ugly reality.

“But if your democracy can be destroyed with a few hundred thousand dollars of digital advertising from a foreign country, then it wasn’t very strong to begin with,” Vance intoned.

And that’s assuming that the EU even embraces democracy at all, given how deeply the entire region has veered towards socialism.
