By now, most of the Internet is ablaze with the news that the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, meant to transport Russian gas to the EU, has suffered extreme, deliberate damage on three of its lines.
Per the Nord Stream AG, the company that created the pipeline, the damage is “unprecedented.”
“The destruction that occurred on the same day simultaneously on three strings of the offshore gas pipelines of the Nord Stream system is unprecedented,” the company declared, “it is not yet possible to estimate the timing of the restoration of the gas transport infrastructure.”
It is probably not yet possible because no natural event led to such a deliberate explosion … but a military level operation certainly could do so, which is the precise position adopted by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
“Today we faced an act of sabotage. We don’t know all the details of what happened but we see clearly that it’s an act of sabotage, related to the next step of escalation of the situation in Ukraine,” Morawiecki declared.
The problem is, which entity is the one doing the escalation at this point in time?
While the mainstream media, as usual, is blaring away about Russia apparently blowing up its own pipelines, other EU parliamentarians have somewhat undermined that narrative, notably in a tweet from Radoslaw Sikorskia that has since been deleted.
The message was short and sweet: “Thank you, USA,” accompanied by an image of the destroyed pipeline.
Sikorskia continued to provide justification for why the Nord Stream 2 may have been destroyed in a deliberate act of sabotage from the United States.
“BTW, there’s no shortage of pipeline capacity for taking gas from Russia to Western Europe, including Germany. Nordstream’s only logic was for Putin to be able to blackmail or wage war on Eastern Europe with impunity,” the EU parliamentarian asserted, making it clear that he was all in favor of its destruction.
“All Ukrainian and Baltic sea states have opposed Nordstream’s construction for 20 years. Now $20 billion of scrap metal lies at the bottom of the sea, another cost to Russia of its criminal decision to invade Ukraine. Someone, @MFA_Russia, did a special maintenance operation,” he sniffed.
While it may be easy enough to argue that the EU parliamentarian is wrong, it’s a whole lot harder when Biden himself brazenly gives away the plot, as shown in a ABC News tweet.
“If Russia invades…then there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it,” Biden warned gravely, well before Putin invaded Ukraine.
“But how will you do that, exactly, since…the project is in Germany’s control?” the reporter questioned dubiously.
“I promise you, we will be able to do that,” Biden retorted ominously, words that have become all the more ominious considering “an end” may well have been brought to the pipeline after the explosion.
Needless to say, MFA Russia has responded furiously to the EU parliamentarian, who happens to be married to an American leftist, in a tweet.
“Ex Polish FM, now European MP @radeksikorski has thanked the US for today’s incident at the Russian gas pipeline (Nord Stream 2). Is it an official statement on this being a terrorist attack?” the MFA demanded.
One thing is for sure: The White House is playing with fire, which was made clear by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
“More and more, the American side is getting into this conflict, getting closer to becoming a party to the conflict, which is extremely dangerous,” Peskov warned.
The Coast Guard is already warning of these dangers, as evidenced by a recent press release, which revealed China-Russia collusion off the coast of Alaska.
“The Coast Guard Cutter Kimball crew on a routine patrol in the Bering Sea encountered a People’s Republic of China Guided Missile Cruiser, Renhai CG 101, sailing approximately 75 nautical miles north of Kiska Island, Alaska, September 19, 2022,” the report reads.
That’s nice. Gliding along together with impunity.
“The Kimball crew later identified two more Chinese naval vessels and four Russian naval vessels, including a Russian Federation Navy destroyer, all in a single formation with the Renhai as a combined surface action group operating in the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ),” the report added.
Something suggests they may get a whole lot more bellicose in the future, especially if Biden is behind the literal blowup of the pipeline.
